The 8 vero 29s sound perfect, no need to use the purple sun if I can replace them with veros.

So what wattage should the driver be? Also what size heatsink would be good enough with just passive air? no additional fans.
You need something that can put out at least 37V for the vero 29. 35-36V for CXB3070/3590. which would equate to a 50-60w driver if you want single driver per COB.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=201418445642&globalID=EBAY-US

Specs:

LED Type: 4 High Powered Cree CXB3070 LED Chips (3000K)

Working Voltage: 85v – 265v

Power Supply: 1.33Amps (4 Power Supply's)

Operating Temperature: 90°F -110°F (32.2°C – 43.3°C)

Full Spectrum: 380nm-780nm

Thermal Management: 4 x 80mm dual bearing cooling fans

Product Dimensions: 11.65” x 11.65” x 2.95"

Product Weight: 10.5 lbs

Lens Angle: 90 degree

Coverage Area: 36″ x 36″ @ 16” above canopy

So if it's 11.65" x 11.65" I'm guessing about 5" center to center of the COB

Closest I've read guys using these is at ~10"

With that spacing . Probably a 2x2 flower fixture. 50watt 3070s. 5inch spacing. I am sure the 3x3 is veg.
It will work good for ya.

I have a purple sun led cob 384w, draws 180 actual watts. I ordered it off amazon and am pleased with the results. It seems it's outperforming my 600w HPS I have in the same closest running next to it. I use these for flowering in a 6' x 2' closest.

I'm looking to replace the 600w HPS with some more LEDs. I figured I have three options. I could order 3 more of the purple sun lights. I could buy a nice, single optic light, vero 18 or vero 29 light. The third would be building it myself. I have made a couple small cob leds fixtures for my veg cab, so I have some relative idea on building.

My point here is that i was hoping to get some thoughts and opinions from others to see what my best option would be. They all seem appealing to me, all of them having their own pros and cons personally. Also other options are also welcome.

I run 8 Vero 29's in an area 40" x46". 800w total. It is dimmable. I will move to a more efficient led setup when availability is better on the CXB's. I will probably double the cobs and go passive. Same 800w total. The Veros really work well. I expect close to 1000g on this run. (just bud)

Right I'm thinking it'll supplement my 2 Zelion HLs perfectly. I need something to put between them and something to help me identify these damn thirps I'm finding every couple days.

You have to admit for the price and unit it's a damn great deal!!

When it arrives I'll put my plants to flower with it and the 2 zelion HLs and make a log.

Set up will cover a 3'x4' area overlapping light with zelion HL then GO Green panel then zelion HL with light mover traveling ~ 10"

Spectrum King 400+ or 2 Platinum Led P600's for a 4x4 room using DWC hydro. Moving to led's mainly for heat but lower wattage would be nice too? currently have been running 1000watts hps

I have two p600s and their doing the damn thing. Its all about preference IMO. And your greenthumb. People forget you still have to have a Environment and SKILL level. To each its own, but I'm rocking with platinum.

I am talking to him right now. I asked him to offer RUI members a discount from posted prices on eBay. Here is his reply!

I would be happy to offer a 15% discount to the community. As such prices would be: $ 458.15 for the 4 COB 200W, $679.15 for the 6 COB 300W, and $934.15 for the 9 COB 450W model. People can reach me on eBay or by email [email protected]

Best regards,
Mike Brady

Confirmed with Mike Brady and they are using proprietary drivers with CXB3070 AB bin at the moment plan on switching to HLG-120H-C1400 drivers on there largest light they offer soon.

Roger that! I'll make sure it's ok with Mr. Brady. I'm glad to see someone's offering COB LEDs at reasonable prices; Companies Making over a 50% profit off garage made lights is complete crap in my book....shows they are in it for material gain and not interested in the community. But business is business.

Thanks. Given that budget I may have to go with a hybrid setup, as I just simply can't quite afford that at this time.
