Yo, I want to bring Cree XP-E back up for a sec. Turns out that XPE what is on my model of the hans panel.

my hans panel specs:

- 56 Watt Cree XP-E and Rebel LED Power, total power consumption max. 65 Watt
- 3 selectable positions; (1) Seedlings and cuttings, (2) Mothers and Early weeks of flowering, and (3) Full flowering position. Easily selectable by Switch
- 4 Blue XP-E, 27 Red XP-E and 2 DeepRed Rebel Led's
- Each Led has it's own reflector, either 106 or 123 degrees, therefore optimal control of the light pattern
And I would say the hans is quite beast with its XP-Es..

So here is an example of one I just got.
30W Cree XPE 8 Red 2 Blue
Power: 30WEmitted
Color: Blue+Red
Wavelength: 465nm~480nm(Blue)/620nm-630nm(Red)
Viewing Angle: 110 Degree

So, is there any reason I should expect the new multi-chip ones to perform any less well?

Hello there, RUI LED enthusiasts

I have been reading in forums (mostly RUI) for the past month and a half for hours each night in order to give myself the best head start I possibly can. I feel I have a pretty decent idea on what to expect once i start my new hobby. I always thought about doing it but never had the balls. Things have changed :bigjoint:

I know i will screw up and make mistakes. However I don't want rush in and make a mistake on something as important as Lighting.

my planned flowering space: 2' deep x 6' x7'H
my planned veg space: 20" deep X 6' x 4'H

Now start up costs are not an issue for me. I'm focusing on growing great organic bud and want to get it right. I do not want to use HID. My research (on all of your research ;-)) has given me a short list of lighting options

-Area 51 160's 2 in each space. Which color options would be best in each space?

-Apache 120 or 200 's 2 in each space, again which color options would suit me best in each space and what are the footprint on those models? However, their website is awful and that gives me pause

-illumitex If i were to use these what would i need to do it right in my spaces? most likely I would use the eclipse units daisy chained and would have make my spaces longer as the bars are 48". Not sure how many i would need and how that would increase my watts which i want to keep down.

Thanks in advance bongsmilie

You could get 1 AT200, and 1 of the A51's.

A51 will give you a discount, I'm sure AT will too, AT has coupon codes you can use.

With both lights in action, you get the best of the best on each side of your tent, can't go wrong.

thanks for the reply Eraserhead.
of course I have a single row foot print and would think id have to rotate my plants in flower every so often they get time under both types of white to keep growth consistent if i experience variation in growth on on side of the space vs the other.

If this is the case, how often would i rotate?
if the answer is "screw it, just leave them be and see how each side performs", that's great too

can you school me on your red/white SGS VS the all white SGS? basically whats the difference in flower and veg between the two? If you've already covered that somewhere on here let me know the thread title por favor.

and 2 questions to everybody: i prefer to keep my electric bill to a minimum.
1. Am i a dummy to put a couple SGS' in my veg space that's a bit less than 2' wide and 6 ft long? head room is 4'.
2. or is it more efficient to run T5 fixtures in this veg?

thx doods

Yes because if you run those like Hans runs his yours will melt. To run those 30w arrays at max you'll need amazing cooling. What's the specs on the driver you're going to use? Hans' drivers are probably perfect for his panel. What's Hans using for beam angles? Something tells me with his reflectors his isn't 110-120 degrees. Han's also has specific binnings I believe. Big differences right there.

Two A51s ought to cover a 4'x4' very well.

Some day....

I'm counting down the days. First thing I'll do after the unboxing is take a nice big whiff of that "new technology smell"!!! I'm just debating on the genetics. Need something very special for that set up. The anticipation is killing me. Thanks to all of you for posting all the LED ins and outs. Made my decision easy. Now I have to stop reading before I make my own lol.

Well, hans driver is 60w and 700mA.
Here is a pic of the little reflectors.. angle is almost the same as the Floods angle that i'm going to use.

I got 3 new LED chips, and 3 Drivers

one driver is:
Input: AC100V-240V 50/60HZ 0.36A Output: DC24V-38V 1000mA+-5%

the other is
30W
AC85-265V
DC21-36V
900mA
10*3.7*2.8cm

I got these CREE XP-E chips:
Warm White
8red 2blue
5red 5blue
-Chip Model: XPE-R2-N4, XPE-B3

Hans mother units are doing very well in veg so far. Soil is a little hot. Little heat as compared to T-5. Just flipped to full power after 1 week. Distance at about 18 inches.no LED1.jpg

Hi, just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the lights from this store on aliexpress. Also, are there any known respectable sellers on either ebay or alibaba?

Thanks.
Hi DI, well where to start. Aliexpress and Alibaba products come straight out of China so you take a big chance when ordering from them because if it isn't what you ordered or it is defective you will have to pay return shipping to China and who knows what you will get back or IF you will get it back. There isn't much recourse when going that route. I am not saying that there aren't any reputable companies in China but finding one is not an easy thing.

As for Ebay, check to see if they are a USA company and what their warranty policy is and what their seller rating is and if they have sold any of that item before. Make sure they have very few complaints and that they are not a brand new account. I guess what I am saying is be very careful because there are MANY knock-offs, re-branded clones and just plain junk that these guys will sell to you without a second thought.

Personally I would order from Ebay before the Ali people. At least with Ebay you do have buyer protection but check the listing very carefully and ask the seller questions about the product like who makes the LED chips they use, what wave-lengths they are, what wattage they are rated at, how many of each color, etc. If they answer your questions and don't give you the runaround that would be a good sign. Just make sure and check everything you can about them and the product. I know from experience that things may look great but a lot of them are not.

I hope that helps. Best of luck. :)

Well MPass I got 4 small plants under 6x30 watt XPE (4 CW + 2WW) and they veg like shit compared to 138 watts of CFL. Either I don't have CREEs in mine or Hans panel is not as good as I think. Mine run at 900ma so the only thing I have left to say is please journal your results. I just don't see 3x30w arrays taking on Hans but when it comes to LEDs I do expect to be wrong sometimes that's for sure.

Hard to be right all the time with leds for sure. So much variations in everything

i had bad luck with cool white xpe and xml. Got bad enough things were starting to die off. Things started looking better when I switched to a neutral warm combo. Something about the cool the plants don't seem to like. Plants just seem to prefer a lean on the warm end is my guess..

Perhaps this is the reason Hans has not used White Light until now...
He only just now added some.. all XBD.

The Red/Blue XPEs might be really good, whereas the whites are not great.
Maybe on to something.. or maybe my XPEs will be garbage... Ill let ya guys know either way hah

Hi, thanks for the response. I have bought a bit of stuff off the net, just hopping to find a reputable seller on one of the sites. Also, there is buyers protection on alibaba. Thanks again.

Here is a light I was looking at. I am wondering if it has a good ratio for all the spectrum's and/or if it missing any & I should get it customized? I have read a bit about the led's but it's a little ways beyond me so help is appreciated.

Hey DI. The standard specs are as follows on that panel:

100pcs X 3W LEDs
,9Band or custom.

-Size:400x212x60mm
- LED Chipset: 3W
- Power consumption: 175W - 185Watt
- Lumens: ≥6500 Lm
- Emitting angle: all 90 degree

Color Nm Leds.Qty
Red 630nm 60 Leds
Red 660nm 10 leds
Blue 460nm 10 Leds
Blue 450nm 4 Leds
Yellow 580nm 5 Leds
Orange 610nm 5 Leds
White 14000K 2 leds
white 6500K 2 leds

Cyan 500nm 2 leds
-Body color: White (Default option)
Black (leave message or contact me for this body color)
-Power Plug: Modular Power Cord (Available in UK, US, EU, AU)
-Hanging Kit: Complete hanging kits supplied
-Worldwide Input voltage: AC85~264V

I went through the comments and this panel received mostly 5 stars which is good. The colors seem ok but I would like someone with more experience than I to chime in here please. At least he does give you the option to configure the panel to your liking as far as changing the colors which is a really good thing. So for the most part this panel does look appealing to me but again, in my limited experience I would like a second opinion. Best of luck DI! :)

One more thing. Here are the colors and angles one can choose from for the panel. The selection is not bad and covers most of the pertinent spectrum.

All emitting angle for option: 60/90/120degreeAll Spectrum for option:

Red:630nm/660nm ; Blue:430nm/460nm ; Orange:610nm ;
White:6500K ; Yellow:580nm ; Green:530nm ; Cyan:500nm ;
Violet:410nm ; Infrared: 730nm/850nm.
MCPCB and every leds has Votage-regulator diode to protect.
