I’M GONNA DO IT and You Can’t Stop Me

Hey guys. Contrary to the title I could be stopped
Easily
Anyway, I have a 2’x2’x4’ grow box I built, painted white inside.
1 gal pot, 60/40 ffof:perlite
32w Feit LED 3 spectrum grow light and another 9w grow light on the side
Day 14
My buddy is in college and recently did an experiment using leds. They basically found out it’s not the power, but the spectrum that matters.
My lights are only at 41w... but my plant seems to be THRIVING! Tried to grow once before and never had results like this with a similar cheap light, but these seem to be killin it.
Kinda wondering if/when I’m gonna need to get a better light. For flower for sure I will, but should I stay Led? I’m thinkin the ms ts1000 (~165w actual draw)
I’m cheap af by the way, only working a part time job.
Second pic is old, the box is inside now instead of the garage, no cup of water, and wayyyy cleaner.

Get the mars ts1000 for flowering. Good enough for the price as you're on a budget.
You have 4 sq ft, 2ft x 2ft, so you need 30 - 40 watts a sq ft ~ 150 watts of led for flowering .
Vegging is easy enough with low wattage but usless for flowering.
You need more power - watts, not more spectrum to grow/flower plants.
Good luck

This is easily the best answer I’ve gotten regarding LEDs.. good lord thank you!!
How do I get this so more newbies can see it? I feel like I’ve seen the same question asked and answered a million different ways and yours wins

What he is saying is that your plant will grow taller than your 4' grow box can handle. From floor to top of plant is currently at least 1' tall. Your led light may need to be 2' above your plant, which gives you only 1 more vertical foot to grow your plant before they are getting too close to the light. If you tie your plant down so it grows wider, you will be able to better maximize your grow space.

With that said, your plant can probably grow to about 16" from the light and be okay. If you were running strips, the plant can be just a few inches from the lights.

Okay! Gotcha man thanks. My current plan for this one is to top once at 4th node (did that 3days ago) and then doing it again, maybe trying to fim. Depending on how it’s looking I might do it again and the em all down around the pot
Definitely going to do some LST, scrog just seemed a little too much for my first grow! For sure gonna happen next time, I also plan on getting a bigger tent for future grows depending on how this one turns out

You need to scrog in that short of box with Led's that typically need to be 2 feet away from canopy
I had the LED really close when it was popping, just a couple inches. It runs really cool. What’s the downside of having it close other than maybe less light penetration? I have lights I can put on the sides to supplement as well

Light bleaching is a common problem with many LED's
