Increasing Ph in Soil

Uh oh. Already done. I've read it is ok to correct soil ph with 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. I'll keep you posted on the 2 plants I tried it on. 2 of 9.
We’ll chalk it up as a learning curve.

Trying to change the soil ph with any kind of ph adjusted water is like trying to change your gut biome ph by taking a shower. Nothing happens.

What’s your watering schedule, sorry if I missed it in previous replies. If I wanted to raise my ph I would be focusing on fungal dominance in my medium above bacterial dominant.

The easiest way to do this, fresh ground malted barley powder and high quality compost or castings. Also watering schedule and practice has much more do to with your medium ph than you think as well. Try for consistency ( think just right pourage) instead of swings.

Urine contains sodium, so they will put up with some sodium. So I wouldn't worry about it but I wouldn't keep doing it.
Is urine the ticket now lol. I missed that I guess.

Yes there is sodium in a lot of stuff. Kelp as well. Everything in moderation, even moderation. Haha I just get so confused why baking soda and vinegar are the go to option for a lot of YouTube growers. Doesn’t make any since when there is 1000 better ways to skin that cat.

One application won’t affect much, but making a habit of it would be detrimental

Watering once a week with with 5 cups. What do you recommend for fungals?

You’re growing in organic soil?

I recommend watering everyday. 5% of container size. Till there is no runoff, either right away or sitting in trays the next day.

Top dressing 1 tbsp/ gallon medium malted barley powder. ( get from brewing store)

Toodressing 1/2 inch high quality compost or castings.

Not me, I'm in hydro :) although..... But a number of people have done a grow using urea as their N source.

I thought this was a joke. Haha. Although @greasemonkeymann used to talk about it back in the day.

In soil usually no…. I mean you watch over watering. But worry about it? Fuxk no. Water is life. Don’t be scared if water. And if you overwater the damage potential is waaayyy less than underwatering. Underwatering puts microbes into dormancy. Then they get a sip and spend energy coming out of dormant. Only to go right back to sleep again cause you’re swinging so hard at watering once a week.

Underwatering will destroy the ph as well. As your microbe population is actually more responsible for maintaining proper ph good soil conditions than anything else.

Start out with 5% water to soil volume. Feel the pots to determine the duration between waterings. That will change as the plants get bigger. Then switch to 10%. Again, feel the weight of the container to determine duration between waterings.
This is great info for ball parking it and a good place to start.

To help someone learning I like to use runoff as a tool for knowing where your add moisture wise.

If you get runoff instantly when watering your UNDER watered. The water in tray will suck back up usually in a few minutes. This means Increase the next days volume of water.

If your water and nothing comes out right away but when you come back hours later or the next day there is runoff hanging out in trays. Then your overwatered and reduce volumes or skip a day.

It’s definitely practice and takes lots of experience to get it down.
