Can I just say thank you, and congrats to all the helpful people in this thread.
I'm a patient in a legal state, and I'm working towards my own growing. I liked the idea of LED for a long time, and talked to a number of people in CO about it ... but all the big time growers didn't like the investment vs quick profit. It has improved in the last two years (since I left CO), but I still didn't feel it was adequate. I prefer the idea of full spectrum, and I'm a nerd for anything Tesla was involved in. I found IndaGro through the internet, and have now read through this entire thread, plus plenty more. This is my first post here. I'm an avid forum-goer, but in the world of cars, computers, food, etc. You guys are the reason/s progress is made, keep up the great work.
I REALLY do not like the HID market and I seriously doubt I'll buy into their traps. I know results speak louder than words, but when you can provide the same quality for less, I get excited. I've played around with ideas of every type of growing medium, and considered all the lighting options, I really think the IG's are for me. When I drop the cash and get everything set up, you will know for sure. Until then, I'll continue to fly under the radar (for the most part), but I couldn't read 90+ pages and not say thanks.
Spliff, did that Oregon Licorice finish out? I might have skimmed past it, but I have read through 97 pages in two sittings. All of them look great, but I'm captivated by that one for some reason. Did that one start from seed? Supplier?
I'm looking to build a small cabinet(<10sq ft, 45-50cu ft) since most tents won't suit my needs, but I'd like to run the 200PAR start to finish, and a hybrid DWC/soilless setup. Only exception would be that I'm considering a Kessil bloom LED as an add-on, but that's still up in the air.
I haven't seen it elsewhere yet, but has anybody used a IG with the Orca film/lining instead of the normal Mylar/foil lining?
greetings, dj! after reading all the thread up to this point, in 2 sittings no less, i'm very glad that you decided to say high! i'm happy to have been able to provide you a means of information that will be able to help you out in your future ventures.
as for the Oregon Licorice, i'm presently blooming my 3rd one, and she's kicking ass at day 13. the first one was on Canna Bio Flores, PK 13/14, Boost, Rhizo tonic, and Cannazym. she was 7.5 ounces dry at the end. her aroma was very mild and incensey and she had a balanced high. i liked her, but was overall left feeling that she hadn't lived up to her potential. the 2nd one got Bio Flores, but instead of PK13/14 got Crystal Burst and Snow Storm Ultra from Humboldt County's Own, and didn't get Boost cuz i couldn't afford it and also sorta wanted to see what happens without it, if it's worth the $125/L that the local shop charges for it. she came up substantially lighter than the first one, but smelled and tasted A LOT better, and was more potent. the one i'm running now is getting House and Garden, full line but currently only on the A+B, Roots Excelurater, Amino Treatment, Drip Clean, and Multi Zen. for later in the cycle she will be getting Top Shooter, Bud-XL, and Shooting Powder, all according to their 10 week feed schedule. i've also opted to run one of my current White Fires on that mix with the other (twin) WF on the Canna-based mix described in regards to the 2nd Licorice, but am using Massive from Green Planet instead of Boost cuz that bitch is still too spendy and i'm not totally sold on it's worth; and the Blue City Diesel that is now on day 4 is also getting the same Canna/Humboldt/Massive mix. one thing that i gotta say, is that i am really eager to see the end of the current run as the Canna diet utilizes a PK booster at the onset of bud, and the HG diet doesn't add to the base til the half way point. i figure that i'll be able to see all the way thru if PK boosters are on point or not... as for where the genetics are from, i got her in Feb of this year, as a clone, from a friend. i understand that it's a strain that originates from Purple Afghani and Durban Poison, but was bred in Oregon.
oh, a side note... i transplanted my 4 Qrazy Trains from 1 gal to 3 gal an hour ago... damn i can't wait to get them all into bloom... thinking of a 4way nute test... maybe Canna vs House & Garden vs Supernatural vs home brewed tea (no AN cuz fuck AN).
i have had the notion of wanting to take a plant full term under a 200PAR, but haven't been able to get other necessities lined up to be able to so that... if that's what you end up doing, you're gonna have to keep us posted, well.. at least me
oh ya.. that Orca film... haven't used it or heard of it before... i did find a vid from them on YouTube where they do a vs mylar, and all i was thinking was "ya i can
see a difference, but plants don't have eyes, so why not try to make the comparison in terms of how plants perceive the difference?" they should just toss plants in and see over time. but... i will say that the first time i grew, i used a 150w HPS in a small cabinet, and i spray painted the inside of the box and the hood with flat white. worked just fine, but no idea if it was better than not having done that.
anyhew.. .i'm no doubt rambling... and i gotta get back to watering them thirsty bitches.. i mean ladies...
ttfn everyone!
