Hey RIU. Went to the store to get some FF soil all they had the moment was Happy frog blend potting soil but the clerk said it was good stuff. I was pricing the materials while I was there to make one of the organic blends that they have 500 recipes for online and was pleased to see it wont cost much (~60$) I may pick up the parts next pday. Ill be able to use the FF soil while my mix is sitting. Anyway onto the plants popped one bean straight into a 4x4 full of happy frog and some (15%~) perlite gave her some water and a 23w cfl. The two older plants while I may end up scrapping if the soil takes off I decided to try and "fix" them for now, just in case I run into these issues later. I am just trying to learn after all. I gave the big girl a stronger dose of nutes. (full 6/9 micro+bloom GH) It seems kinda obv now when I look at the discoloration and how it progressed that I needed something but I just didn't add more I think i was waiting too much on outside input. Shes gained a lot of color and probably gained 20% sized, I have the main stem tied down a bit and 2 nodes sprouted from where I tried to mainline The smaller plant I just gave her some ph'd clean water as a sort of mini flush. I gave the plant way too much for it to handle at half strength. Next feed ill feed at 1/4 strength and see how that does for now it seems to have perked up quite a bit. Temps are officially under control or at least a lot better. The high in the GR didn't go above 80 yesterday. Also picked up the store brand Cal/mag and im gonna use that in my next feed on both plants. check em out :)

Yea I'm gonna see if I can find the Ft soil around here and I'll give it a try. Just a couple things about your points though I do have good airflow it may have been hot but it was lots of hot fresh air Lol . What do you mean by irregular light cycles? I've been running 20-4 and recently switched to lights off from 1-5(to also help with heat)
I was providing some insight that's all. I was not pointing out your faults by any means! I'm glad to see you got some more supplies and a little bit more confidence! IMHO as a beginner, try your damnedest NOT to trim ANYTHING off until your plant has 5 nodes, that way it wont take as long to recover... especially if you're set on mainlining.

Bean in soil not out yet ( just put it right in its a seed from good bud but no strand name or anything I have a few). Larger plant looking OK still a little pale when I waterd today I sued the calmag and if that doesnt do the trick I may have a zinc def. thats what it looks like based off the charts ive seen. The smaller plant I flushed and gave a much weaker dose of nutes about 3 ML micro/5ml bloom and .5 tsp calmag in 1g. Shes looking 100% better.

Back from a 4 day trip to the mountains and yesterday I watered my plants the calmag seems to be helping bring back the green in the plant and the little guy is doing pretty good too but I think I might have overfed the larger plant getting some burning on the edges. I think on my next water i'm gonna try a semi flush w/ 2 gallons of water and just some of the calmag. The burn is pretty bad so I may try to flush it soon. Been sprouted but the soil was very dry when I came back it may be toast not sure. Gave it some water anyway.

Did the mini flush w/ some water and the vegi calcium (had been calling it calmag but its the store brand version) Lookin good green coming back. Smaller plant showing good growth leaves are a little twisted but overall seems normal. Cut a stem off the larger one and transplanted into soil to see if it will clone and also popped in another bean maybe this one wont sprout on my vacation =P.

Hey RIU quick update. The flush seemed to really do a good job I guess there was a slight buildup of nutes from before I was also giving the plant some calcium. (the store brand seems to be working 10x better than epsom salts maybe I wasn't adding enough) The smaller plant is also growing very nicly. Clone still kicking it so maybe it will take off in the soil I planted it would be cool to have a soil and coco plant side by side. Here are some pics post flush on large plant. The smaller one seems a little curly but I think shes OK.

at the beginning of this journal I thought the plant was for sure done for and it was time to chalk it up as a loss, but man you sure did bring it back to life!!! congrats on that dude

soil is a lot more forgiving and just get a thermometer! and man if it gets too hot in there just move the light farther away. it is much better to have a canopy at 75 degrees and the light be a little weaker, than it be up close but burning the crap out of them

keep it up!

Thanks for the kind words fellas; another update: The plants are gonna need names cause the one I was calling smaller is now larger so Ill just say the auto(dark green/smaller) and the reg plant. The reg plant was very bushy and had leaves all over and I trimmed some of it off, mainly the leaves touching the soil and the ones that didn't seem to be getting enough light. The auto has not been topped yet and I was wondering if now's a good time what do u think RIU? O and the bean finally sprouted so ill have a pic of it next update.

heymouati nbrew..always remember your feeding the soil and not the plant the roots feed from the soil..iv topped autos before and trust me it will stress the shit out of them ..you can give them as much light as you want or as little as well they respond to age due to the ruderalis in it .hope this helps scarecrow77.i found 20/4 to be best for autos

Scarecrow It took me a few times over to realize what you where saying about feeding the soil but that is the way I need to be looking at it. Also as far as the topping unfortunately I dropped my glasses on the auto and it bent a stem (broken on inside) so cut it, the top fan leaf, and I went ahead and topped it. She was looking kinda down for a while but has perked up quite a bit. The seedling is loving the 150w hps(Ive got some cfls thrown in but I think they are too far from the lil guy to do any good) lil leaves streching out.

Hey RIU long time no update. Well few things the larger unknown plant turned out to be male so I pulled it. Now i'm left with the auto and the soil bean. Things are coming along great the auto has lots of flowering points. The seedling is on its third set and I just transplanted it into a 2g pot. The roots were showing in the 4" pot she was in before. I think im gonna buy some of the Kool-Bloom powder to add for my next watering on the auto we will see how expensive it is. Here are a couple pics.

Hey mountain brew..be easy on the nutrients with the auto..i have a good bit of experience growing autos and I find that very small doses does the trick...they are very easy to stunt there growth if you give them to much feeding...if your using quality soil ..1 or 2 feeds in flower should see you through ...dont go buying expensive nutes for autos ...imo its a waste of money...they are what they are..personally I wouldn't grow them any more .. you have to grow from seed every time...the best yeilds I got with auto were in 2 gallon pots...anthing bigger is just a waste of soil and money.....less is more....and take no notice of the flowering time the seedbank says...between 80 to 100 days for all the autos I grew..happy growing scarecrow77

Good 2 know scarecrow I looked and the nutes where like 40$ a bottle so I said fuck it ill just stick to the GH. and its in coco this auto so I have to feed as I water but its been very low dosages all the way thru and its paying off =). The lil guy hasn't had anything but nice clean water. The germ time for this seed I think said like 70 days its called +speed auto.
