So about 2 months ago i decided to try to grow my first plant from seed in a pure hydro set up. I used no artificial light, only indirect sunlight sitting on a window ledge inside my apartment. I took a rubbermaid clear container so i could watch the roots grow, put in an aquarium pump and air stone, and put some netting up to let it grow up. My nieces and nephews now have something cool to look at when they come visit and it made them want to learn to garden! I got my first flower on it and thought i would share it with every one.

if any of yall have young kids in your family, I highly recommend setting somthing like this up. the kids love it!

just wanted to post an update on the plant! i have multipull flowers and I'm trying to pollinate it via ear swabs Here's a pic :-) View attachment 2274243
I am curious...how do you pollinate with ear swabs? Maybe you should do a step by step "how-to" thread so that others can follow your success? I have heard of DIY hydro but I haven't attempted one yet. And my question always was how to pollinate so if you could maybe take a picture or video of the pollination process that you use that would be awesome!

im going to do a pineapple..
I want to try this as well sounds pretty easy. But my understanding is that each bush only produces one pineapple. Seems like a waist of space so I Havnt done it yet. But one day for shits and grins ill attempt of.

I have 2 cucumber plants and 2 tomato plants, and one bell pepper, and one tiny sweet pepper plant inside in my tents...I am getting my first cucumbers off of the indoor vines, and they are much much smaller than the ones I get off of the same plants outside...Which I guess is to be expected...but still...Oh well...I have some huge cucumbers, and some tiny snack cucumbers.

Polination is crutial, I use a small paint brush and that has worked for me. No bees no veggies. lol
If you have a fan in your area or shake the plants from time to time they will become pollinated, but nothing like what happens outside...

ya they take for ever but would be cool to see one grow
If you can't accurately replicate their proper climate they taste like crap though. Like bananas...You can grow a banana tree in SC, but don't eat any bananas it might grow...They will turn your whole face inside out.
