Indoor/Sunshine Grow

ISK, I have been using gallon jugs to help hold the top heavy ones, I just cut to size, keeping the handle, so it's easy to move, I have put fish tank gravel in the bottom of a few of them for counter weight...gives it a good space amount too...I put a hole in the handle so I can add a support if needed...

I get a bit of sun in the morning (8am to 9:30am) from the east windows, just a pic of her enjoying the morning sunshine

...then she has to wait until 3pm for the direct sun to return, until sunset, then to the dark room

just an update, she is growing steady with no issue (knock on wood)

I've been lucky this year, lots of sunshine so she doing better than last year's plant which was started a good month earlier

I also think the hempy is helping it advance faster as well, as last year's was in soil

Notice how the shadow just fills the available sunshine footprint so nicely......that's why I don't want it too fat

That's a lot of plant for a 2L ISK, and it looks so very healthy. You'll need to build some sort of a trellis mounted to your counterbalance box, to hold up the bud weight. I've got a question about your rock box, are there holes drilled in the bottom for drainage? With the tape job it looks like the bottle is to remain in the box at all times.

Many thanks for your feedback Watt....and sorry for the late reply.

The plant is so off centred that the 2 litre pop bottle will fall over if not supported.

The base unit is fixed and does not have drainage, it's a plastic shoe box with a plastic cashew jar surrounded by rocks and taped up to keep stable, the 2 litre pop bottle slides in/out of the cashew jar.

I water every morning while the plant sits in the base unit, I slide the pop bottle out of one unit, drain the excess water into the cashew jar, then slide the pop bottle into the other "dry" base unit

My worry is she is going to become very top heavy and unstable once the buds start getting fatter...not sure how I will counter balance that issues..... but it's a problem in life that I welcome with open arms

on post 2 of this thread, I mentioned bring the GF 2 plants to grow on her balcony

I went there yesterday to determine the gender of her plants....she was convinced they were both females.

well...the little one is a gal...the tall fellow is a bad ass male, which is has fair sized male flowers but the pods are hidden...I was unsure until I use my 20x loupe....it became crystal clear then

Anyhow, I'm surprized as she does not have a green thumb and could kill a pet rock....but pot is tough and will survive the most cruel conditions

I understand no drain holes now, wouldn't want to leave wet spots all over the apt. But you're gonna have to get real creative to support the bud load that is coming.

Looks like your associates are doing well also.

yeah, thinking of a few ideas, but I am concerned as I move it daily into a dark room...this is already becoming an issue as she is getting fatter than the doorway

My only thought is to take a tomato cage, bend the leg to fit the bottle, and tape it to the bottle hi and low. But don't know the clearance you have between bottle and cashew jar, i'm guessing not a lot. And will the bottle even be able to handle the leverage is a whole other question.

Need to get you into a 2gal bucket next run, more stable, and you can build on them, even a screen if you are so inclined.

I have a wild idea on how to stabilize my hempy....I'll work on it first before even talking about it

remember the "mutant"...that was in a 11 litre bucket (3 US gallons), it was going to be my summer grow...but

I'm starting to lean towards the 3 gallon bucket, just seems like less work to have one or two big gals than a bunch of 2L pop bottles

Hey ISK, I have had some success using bamboo supports taped to the bottle, one one each side not in the soil...I think it leached paint into my plants...I could then support them from 2 sides and it kinda evened out some of the top heavyness...

she is doing okay.....just a few of the leaves have brown tips, I think I'll reduce the Cal-Mag a bit

Been decent weather but a bit cloudy with some sun making my gal happy

Looking nice ISK!.....I would love to grow mine in natural home-life surroundings like yours...I'd probably spoil it though with all the attention it would get being right there in plain sight. It sure is an eye catcher compared to a Philodendron.

I do love to watch it, maybe a bit too much...and I'm always moving it to the perfect spot with the most direct sunlight

It is an eye catcher, just hope not too much so as there are a dozen nearby hi-rises that can see into my place....likely most have not noticed, or could care less.

ISK...Damn...... what r u going to do to hold her up? I use hooke and twine, I make a lose loop on the stem, and a loop on the other end, then I hang it from a screw or something. she's top heavy, but is the base big enough to support her too?

I would have filled the box with gravel or lava stone or something to add some weight
