internet slowed down

have you powercycled you modem/router? (yes this makes a difference if the isp is having a network issue)
do you have an internal wireless card or an adapter? (adapters fry out like no one's business)
is your cable stuff routed to an internal amplifier that may have become unplugged?
how old is the router? (they can die after 6 months. even linksys. get off their nuts people)

i would hardwire the modem and try the speedtest again. they will make you do this anyway if you call them. it's unlikely to be an inside wiring issue although not impossible. if you still had their tv service i would have you check your on demand for error messages. there could also be a provisioning issue with their system. so many possibilities.

edit: i just noticed your upload speed. i predict that this is on comcast's end yet they will genuinely see nothing wrong. have you checked your signal strength on the modem's internal page?

You may get to your ISP in 20 ms, but the standard for reporting slowness is 100 ms.

I get to rollitup in 78 ms (that's 18 hops), my providers local router 8 ms (1 hop) , my next hop is to another ISP above.net wire (hop 9) 18 ms.

If you are getting anything under 100 ms, your ISP will tell you, you don't have a problem.

That will tell you (cryptic results) how long it take to get there and the hops along the way.

The tracert shows you the response times from router in your path, it actually uses a multiple pings to derive the times.

But not the throughput (download/upload) speed, so everything will be slower on a modem. :bigjoint:
 
but why am i so slow, 2 weeks ago i was getting 1-2mpbs?

modem: my computer goes to this which is plugged into the cable cord. Not using my linksys router right now. its a tiny black box.
