search the web and u will see grows with the 290w with other growers and u can see what they can do. i for one have never used the new 290's ive only used the new 500's on this grow. ive used the older model lights witch were great. i just think the 290w is a perfect amount of light and you can always add more for better foot print. i much rather have 2x290's for the same price of a 500w unit. its all comes down to each growers needs/goals. as a single light source for a few plants i would chose the 500w for sure but for more plants bigger area i would go with 2x290's. but who knows ive yet to finish my grow with the 500's and might love them and not trade over at all. not sure what size area the 290's do, their plenty of growers on here and the web that have then, u have to ask them

I just got $300 of OT this week and I'm thinking of picking up a 3rd 290 tomorrow, lol. I rEALLLY REALLLY hope they fuckin perform as advertised lol. I'm noticing a quicker onset of flowering to newly added plants, they seem to be triggering much quicker.

I think if I do pull the trigger, I'll do the setup like this

[290 led] [1kw hps] [290 led] [290 led].

move the 1k closer to the center of the room so I get equal splashdown (everything in a line), plus LED's coming in from all sides. That is until I can get the 4th, and manage the have the time/room to work around the ladies to setup a boxed in setup once I'm able to spring for the 4th.

I "think" this shit is going to be EPIC... but I really HOPE it turns out so. I'm riding ideal conditions now, my laides are chillin in 78degrees @ 40% RH pretty much half the 12hr light shift, then it raises a little and the end of the night to about 83 @ 42%. Im hoping for some monster crystalized baseball bats :)

Although mine had been showing preflowers for weeks before the switch to 12/12, I declared them flowering after about 3 or maybe 4 days (while with my HPS it would take 1-2 weeks). Irish I think said he declared flowering after 4 days as well. I think you will be happy, especially with the UV (must be why there were a bijillion more trichome stalks on my LED flowered compared to my HPS)
 
I am about to startup with a Blackstar 500 in a 4x4 tent running a 2x2 ebb and flow tray. I am i hot as hell where i am at like 100 . I would like to grow in my garage. Do you think I should use a AC.? I am going try to do a 3x3 scrog. How many clones should i use
 
That's exactly what I am leaning towards doing with my 2 180's is a 3 x 3 scrog in a 4 x 4 tent. It sounds so nice! Are we getting an update this week Irish!?

That think should only use 270-280w max, I don't think it would make enough heat in a garage on its own to warrant air conditioning, it would barely add any heat at all in such a large space, you would never notice it if its already so hot.

i think i am getting them to flower, i dont want to count my chickens before they hatch, but i tried something thats worked great for me in the past and i think i see flowering starting to kick in but its only been 2 days since i tried a few things that worked great in the past.

ive seen great starting to flower in 7 days, taking about what i usually get in 2 weeks when i filoar sprayed with seaweed. 3 days latter they were flowering like crazy. i just tried it on these girls and its been 2 days and look like it might work. lots of info supports seaweed to get earlier/bigger flowers. think about it all the pricey additives u can buy are almost all seaweed. its the best think u can ever feed a plant. earth worm castings being 2nd

sounds great bro, ive seen some great great SCROG grows with these lights.

of course u will get updates this week and every week until harvest
 
i have some important info to share with u spectra growers, witch is good because now we get more foot print. anyways heres a copy on the owners post i thought u guys might want to see?



I just finished a grow with eight five hundred watt panels. The Panels that were hung between 24 to 28 inches out yielded the panels that i had at 14 to 16 inches. I received the lab results back on my lights yesterday and the PAR values were much much higher than I expected. Id say to everyone using my panels raise them up to the 24 to 28 range. The plants we grew this last round were Lemon Skunk, Pakistani Kush, Great white and Super lemon haze each plant responded better to the lights that were higher up at 24 to 28 inches. If you guys can please pass this along. I put one 500w panel off to the side with four Pakistani kush in pure coco and used the full line of canna nuts, I kept this light at 14 inched for veg and dropped it down to 11 inches and then 8 inches during flower and pretty much destroyed them. I raised the light back up to 14 inches, they did not recover. I see a few people have had sever leaf yellowing that looks like the leafs were burnt with my panels, thats because they were to close. This doesnt happen with every strain and seems to only happen with soil and or organic grows.

Please people anyone with my lights you know how intense they are, they dont need to be slammed right on top of the plants. Raise them up! If any of you guys that have my lights have any questions please e-mail me. [email protected]

ive also been told for every model lower then the 500w u can do down 2-4" from the 24-28". it seems the par value is real high and the lights can over load the plants when too close? just my guess. i would have to say every strain and setup is different so i would use those #'s as a ball park.

anyone thats using the spectra and feels they have great flowering results please post ur light height in flowering, so we can all put our data together. i know with my older models the 300w 16" seems to be great never went higher but 16" seemed better then 12" ive always felt more isn't better with these lights. ive seen these lights fry girls that the lights were too close, could be even what happen to my last girls and it wasn't off gassing? all i can say is respect these lights and less is more sometimes. you can always lower/add light then take away before its too late. START OFF HIGH AND WORK UR WAY DOWN LITTLE BY LITTLE
 
I've been using my 2 2011 290W Spectras and I love them. Some of my tops are closer than what he's running but I don't seem to see any ill effects. I'm 28 days into flowing and my tallest girls are 8-12 inches away from the lights with no signs of bleaching or stress yet. Also, they have pretty much been that height since the beginning. I didn't lower them when I first transplanted. It worked so I wasn't going to fuck with it. I'm running aeroflow tubes so that might have something to do with it.

BTW, thanks for the shout out on the discount. I saved a little money on my panels and have recommended them to a few people.

It might be a strain thing and some like it closer and some further, or maybe the wattage size plays a role? Girls look happy and thats what matters. Ive heard a few people say they get better results higer on the lights, but i dont know?

Thanks and they are already showing frost. The unknown purp strain has been showing it for at least 7 days and the LSD (the ones that are moving faster) have been throwing off crystals for the last couple of days. I'm pumped for what it will look like closer to 60 days.
 
I need some help I want run a 3x3 sog with 4 mothers, 12 every month no veggin then flowering fro two months with Blackstar 500 watt 2011 UV in ebb and flow 2x2 or a DWC bubler made from a rubbermaid tote? Is 12 too many clones for this area ? So will harvest 24 plant every two months. Im trying to max out my light and grow space. What like to do is get are least 6-9 oz from this every month? I read you can get between .2 to .5 watt per gram with led light. Am I wrong? Yea I am using a 4x4 tent. The figured I could make a mother and cloning room by add some thing shelves. Maybe a 1x3 room with light proofing between flowering room and mother and clone room.

ALLOT OF TIMES LESS IS MORE, BUT WHEN NO VEG TIME IS GOING ON THE PLANTS TEND TO JUST GROW SOME SMALL LITTLE SINGLE BUDS WITH MOST STRAINS. NOW FROM WHAT IVE SEEN AND KNOW U WANT AT LEAST A LITTLE VEG TIME WITH CLONES, THEY WILL JUST GROW VERY SMALL AND ONLY GET AROUND A 1/8TH A PLANT OR MAYBE A LITTLE MORE BUT MOST CASES THATS WHAT IT IS. 12/12 FROM SEED IS THE BEST WAY TO GO, BECAUSE SEEDS STILL HAVE TO VEG UNTIL THEIR OLD ENOUGH TO FLOWER SO THE 12/12 FROM SEED ACTUALLY STILL VEGGES, CLONES ARE ALREADY READY TO FLOWER RIGHT WHEN CUT AND ROOTED BECAUSE THEY AS OLD AS THE MOM, WELL WITH NO VEG TIME UR ROOT BALL WILL ALSO SUCK. YES U CAN HIT MORE THEN THAT GPW WITH LEDS, NOT SURE ABOUT OTHER LEDS THEIR ALL DIFFERENT, I FOR ONE DONT BELIEVE IN GPW AND DONT USE IT TO TEST LIGHTS. BUT YA IVE SEEN ALLOT BETTER THEN THAT SO IF THAT bs500W DOSE GOOD U MIGHT HIT gpw LIKE THAT. I THINK ITS ONLY 300 AND SOMETHING WATTS, ONE THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT THEM AND THAT SALES SCAM OF CALLING UR LIGHT HIGHER THEN WHAT THEIR ACTUAL DRAWL IS, VERY VERY MISS LEADING
