I have never read a thread without some scum bag trolling around with his head up his ass. I got 2 500 spect's working in a scrog. Both pushed on a light mover. Keeping them a max of 12'' from the canopy. So far seem to be on par with the former 1000 watt air cooled nextgen/digilux. It was in the high 80's today in the mid atlantic. And lights are hard to cool eith ambiant temps in the 70+ range. Im working overtime to keep my plants.happy. water chill/co2 etc... my flowerz are 2 weeks into 12/12. The nodes are very tight. Time will tell by week five and six. I feel led's are on par watt for watt. Its a shame the bad name caused by marketing leds as more powerful than they are-i.e. a 300w equates to 1000. Not overly worried about spectrum since i have 2600w hps flying along side. Heat is a bitch. Cant add more hid watt. So im going to chage it out for led and then add more led on top. I wan 4500watt led total. Just need seven more spectums and im there. At that time of course full spectrum will be important. Also by that time 2 yr prices will come down and intensity will have surpassed hid. Also on the horizon. Plasma bulbs. Anyone heard of magnetic induction. Hear a lot of controversy just like led. Supposed to run cool. Only prob is the bulkyness. All i know is getting through the summer without burned up plants makes leds pay for themselvws. At the moment im scrogging chocolope and querkle. Soon.to.be doing an agent orange. Fuck the haters irishboy. U do good

i am in the same boat with heat my last summer grow i did 1080w of leds in 105F+ temps their whole life and it worked out, heat stress IMO if from the radiant heat throw out by HID and leds allow for allot more high temps as long as roots stay cool and air is moving,, just like out doors with the plants growing in 100F+ all the time.
i cant grow with HID in the summer heat so leds are a big plus for me and i love the buds i pull off. these leds have already beat HID in a side x side with a little less watts. a grower by the name of setting Sun did a nice side x side.
that whole 300w=1000w hid is a scam and i would never buy from a company that says that.

i liked those 300's, dont get me wrong i loved that 600w light and it roacked it out but i get more foot print and adjustable with the two 300's. now this 500w light is no joke its crazy bright so time will tell, this will be another 100F+ grow

i am going to use every unit over time to show you guys and so we can all learn. 500's should always be in my room but my tent is a play around thing. i will be using the 100w UFO's soon if the heat will allow me that tent get very very hot. i am getting four 100w ufos to see what their about? dosent mean ill use all 4 at 1st might just use 1 or 2 until summer over

That is good info to hear for the light footprint, those were my thoughts also. I was hoping you would say that so I can invest in a 300W and run in in conjunction with my 600 HPS until I want to invest in another 300w

Have you ever used Blackstar LEDs? Opinions? I have one on the way, the 240 watt unit.
I own a 90 watt LED from HTG. It is good for a small area, up to maybe 20" X 20". but not the 3 X 3 to 5 X 5 they advertise.
Eventually I'd like to get a larger LED setup, later this summer. Maybe 1500 watts worth. Any suggestions? Would the 500 watt

never used them, only used prosource, HGL and GLH. i love my GLH and stopped testing out different units after i used them, they meet my needs. i do know the black stars dont use the watts they claim the 240w is only 133w watts not sure about the 500w?
ya it gets around 105-110F where i live, it sucks! 300's mixed with 600w HPS would be cool to see100+ degrees no shit? lol that's crazy.....

ya i do love the GLH leds they treat me good and i love the buds its grown for me, if its not broke then dont fix it.lol. IDK their the best ive seen so far and are the most proven, every person loves their and havent heard one bad thing about them even though i was the very 1st person to use them back in the day others followed and their all happy and that makes me feel good

The 500s run at just over 300 watts. If I could eventually pull a 1/2 p off of each, I'd be content.
I've never heard of GLH or HGL. Looks like I have some more research to do. It is a never ending thing the research...
I talked with the guy at Gotham Hydro, the place with the Blackstars, he seemed decent enough. Didn't try to bs me like
the HTG guys with their LEDs. He seemed pretty straight up... That's why I am giving their 240 watt one a chance. It was
just $270 shipped.

never ever by from HGL very very bad deal only HGL its easy to mix them up. the people ive talked to like their BS lights just not so proven yet with grow journals like the HGL are. shocked u never heard about them they very poplar now and a ton of grows all over the web
just remember the 240w for $270.00 is only 133w so the $ per watts isnt as good as it sounds, still good but IMO is a misleading scam and this is why i never bothered with them, i dont like trickery like that. besides that others seem to like theirs from what ive seen just waiting to see finished grows done. so many company's pop up its hard to tell and thats why i just stick to what i know now because i need my meds and ive wasted allot of time testing out leds in the past from BS companys

Yeah, the guy on the phone said the 240 pulls actually around 140 including the fan. At least he didn't lie to me. The website should make it clearer
though. Theres a guy on here that is using one, actually it looks like he has a couple. His plants are looking pretty decent. Not sure if you seen it or

ya bro just drama and i am not down for it so i left, not going to be treated like that and deal with BS. ive been around on other fourms doing journals now and rocking two 500's pretty soon.
sucks they changed my name and i cant get credit for my grows, just not right in my book they could have just changed it to Irish B or somthing. allot of people got banned and are hanging out in a different fourm and still around on the web

i trim them so they dont transpire so much, it also helps put more energy into building roots then worrying about feeding the leaves. the more leaves the more work the plant has to put out to feed and cool them and it takes away from the root growth. less leaves and the big fans cut down makes them go nuts. ever get ur clones and their very young and they wilt over? transpiring is whats happing most cases, a clone dome helps a great deal also when transplanting or trying to get big roots keeps the leaves most and the roots can work on growing
