Is my 150Watt hps enough

I'm still waiting for my St.Hydo sys to arrive . My little grow closet is small, and I have a 150 watt hps, and a 2' grow florescent for fill should I order a new 400 watt hps or can I make due for my first try with the 150? If things work out I may build an outdoor grow shed about 4x8. Also what are the differences between all these 400 Watt light systems some have seoerate ballasts and some are enclosed any diff? Thanks guys can't wait to get started..

For a small space 150w can work, 400w is nicer but harder to vent sometimes. I have a 250w with ballast attached to the reflector and it gets hot, my 400 stays much cooler with its detached ballast and vented hood.

Don't build a detached shed to grow in, especially if you have neighbors less than 100yards from said shed. unless it it powered and has a water line to it, both of which shouldn't be visible. Other than that if you do grow out there, you might get busted by nosy people watching you go out to your shed everyday.

Our neighbors our a ok in fact right down the st. there is a house with at least 10 plants over 10 ft tall !! can't believe he hasn't been ripped off. I guess his 2 pit bull guards are working! Thanks for the reply I'm glad I don't need new lights yet work has been bad here ! Luckily I have my mj card so I'm legal to grow up to 10 plants !!

put it this way, not matter what space you use, if your a beginner and its ur first or secdond time, expect .5 gpw grams per watt, so using a 150 watter youll get 70 grams roughly or just over 2 ounces, usinga 400 watter wil lget you 200 grams, just over 6 ounces, hope this helps good luck

Try and go as large as you can. For my first grow in my SH 6 pask unit, I used a 150 hps and lots of side cfl lighting and the buds were whispy. The second grow I bought a 250 and added it to the 150 w and the cfl's. Buds were better but still not hard nugs. I just bought a 400 w hps and I am going to try that, along with some cfl's instead of the 150 or 250 in the grow I am just starting. I wish I had started with the 400 w, but I learned lots about hydro with my little 150 & lots of cfl's.

I have a basement grow so heat isnt an issue. Since you have a small space, if it's unvented, you probably cant go much higher than your 150.
I have never done a grow in such a small space so maybe there are other options.

Im no expert and 400 600 and 1000 are the best thats if you can get rid of the heat im yousing flo tubs and cfls in a small space and the heat was a problem and if im not wrong they make just as much heat as hps and the hps makes so much more light per watt than cfls there just easer to get and youse the cfls .... Im going to build 2 150 light systems for 90 dollars just ordered the parts today if you want contact me

No, that's incorrect. Those floro's & cfl's are MUCH cooler than hid's
