i planted 10 lr#2 thursday and friday the 15th and 16th.only 4 has come up so far .is that about normal.have never purchased seed before. was concidering another purchase however i was hoping for a few more to grow from this batch---maybe there just slo---maybe -----not bitchin just wondering

ya sometimes they take a good week to ten days to germinate. I germinate them in a wet paper towel before planting them and have great results. be patient they may come up still or they may be duds.happy farming.

now the afternoon of the 20th..just an update---no more have come up at this point---the other 4 are growing good.

how far down did you put them? a little heat can help germinating/cloning/rooting quite a bit if used right, you can get heating pads specifically made for the purpose of growing or get a normal one, just make sure you keep it on low and have a towel or 2 folded up on it between the pad and your growing containers you are trying to germinate in. be careful to check it doesnt get too hot or anything like that every once in a while till you are 100% sure its not too hot where you have it set at.

hello---i planted in soil 1st joint of finger deep--- i did all the same.4 were up the second day---3 days later nothing else im sure they were planted and watered the same----i moved pots under clfs last night still nothing---still hoping but not lookin good

the beans came from attitude but when i looked about contacting them it says no emails on germination.then how does 1 let them know about the problem or is it my problem. thanks for advice in advance. has been a week now .would like to make another order but i cant afford 90.00 for 4 seed that opened too many times--40% --alittle dissaointed bright side though is i have 4 so odds are at least 1 male to make some seed<grin>

I recently germed some seeds. I just planted them in a Burpee mini greenhouse, right into the little coco pellets. Six of eight were really vigorous right out of the gate, emerging in only a couple of days. Two others were no shows, or so I thought. While one of these was likely a dud, I found a fat root protruding from the bottom of the other when I finally gave up and decided to pull the inactive seeds. I gently removed damp coco from the pellet and found that the edge of the cracked seed had nearly severed the stem, just below the cotyledons. I think it was just a bit of bad luck but I will be more mindful of planting depth next time.

At this point you might as well do some very careful digging around, maybe with a tweezers, to see if you can find the seed or what ever is left of it. I've done that on apparent duds. Sometimes they just never germ'ed and have pretty much disintegrated while at other times I've found a germ'ed seed that needed some help and recovered it. You've waited long enough IMO. You might as well dig around to find out what happened and stop wasting your time is the seeds are dead.
