Is this temp going to screw up my grow?

I have a grow tent in my basement that stays pretty cool for the most part. However im worried about the temps. I have a big box fan in there on the floor blowing on the highest setting and a smaller yet strong fan blowing on the floor between the 5 gallon buckets blowing right at the light to try to maintain the temps. Last night when I went to bed the temp was hanging at a good 86 degrees. When I woke up this morning the temps had raised to 88 degrees. I am worried they will raise when the summer heat starts to take effect. Right now outside its in the high 70s but they are talking about it hitting the 90s soon. Im sure its also going to raise when I take out the MH light and use the HPS light.

The other question is about air stones. I have the same airstones, 1 in each bucket. 1 is creating smaller bubbles that make the entire water in the bucket bubble up. The other is creating large bubbles that go up in a straight line. Which is better to have and is 1 stone defective?

when youre using a fan to blow heat away fro youre light youre only blwoing it into youre tent and that is self wiil send youre temps up.you need cooltubes or air cooled hoods or create a negative pressure by taking out more air then you put in. upping the movement of air is the best way of keeping temps down imo

yeah your gonna want to get the temps under control before it gets hot out if you dont got the money for more fans and shit go with ice what i did was take 2 gallon water jugs freeze them them when lights come on set one in front of the fan mine last about 9 hours befor i have to change it only down side is it will raise your humidity too but if that something you need to then great workd out good for me maybe the same for you also make sure to set the jug in a bowl or your gonna have a wet mess on your hands

Hello all! I'm new here but have been lurking for a while. My home is ICMag, but like it here, seems like everyone is down to earth.

About the temperature, if doing DWC your water temperature should stay cool to retain as much oxygen as possible. 88 degrees will definitely hinder your final results. You should be around 72 optimally but up to 80 is okay, but the cooler the better. If possible I would consider an AC, along with what Spitsbuds suggested. If that isn't possible then a water chiller would work. If money is tight I have seen people make chillers out of old AC units, so if your handy might be a good idea. Sorry, you probably know this already, but it's about all I can suggest. Your plants will probably be okay, but with those temperatures, may be another type of grow method not so temperature sensitive might be a good option next time around. Hope I helped a little, good luck and keep it green, or should I say, purple.

I have a auto cool ballast with air cooled reflectors for the lights and have an inline fan blowing air out of the tent. I do get the negative pressure (think thats the name) but the tent is still a high temp. Do you think if I went and got 1 of those fancy fans that you can choose what temperature to maintain that would work? The lights are off and its maintaing at 82 degrees right now.

82 isnt bad at all. I used to have a smaller room with temps over 95 by the end of every day and never had any of the problems people said I would have. I was more worried about fire than stunted plants with that setup but it all turned out great every grow.

82 isnt bad now but the lights are off. It was at 88 when I woke up this morning with the lights on. Im afraid of it going higher than that when the summer heat kicks in.

I think my problem is I dont have the glass on the hood of the light. I couldnt figure out how to get it on the hood and have it sitting to the side. If I put the glass on would it bring some of the temps down?

If you dont have air venting out of your room then all the heat will just stay in weather you have a glass over it or not. you can blow the air around in there all you want. all youll be doing is circulating hot air.

Without buying any more extra equip you could try this, I run 1000 watts in a similure basement set up. In the winter I utilize the lamp heat letting it cool to a 75 deg temp before my heater kicks on to maintain that temp, In the summer It can climb. (temp) I do not use a bunch of fans squirrill cages ect, I do not vent my LIGhTs at all, durring 24 hr light I go to bed and blow the fan into the tent, this exchanges the tent with new air, In the day when I wake up, I head down stairs and turn my fan around and set it on a stool at the far side of the tent, this circulates and blows the hot air out of the tent, while it does this, it sucks fresh air from the backside of the tent simple just position your fan where it will best achieve these results, and blow that air out during the day!!!! If it gets too hot still,,,,,? try co2, or better exaust system , One very benificial thing about using co2 in a tent is this , It allows you to keep your tent up in those high 80's low 90's, You are in essence creating a climate more like a primeaval world, when plants grew MUCH, MUCH, bigger and stonger! (bongsmiliethis is not to mention the obviouse reasons why you wan't co2 in your grow!)

If your lighthoods glass is in place, and you are drawing from outside the tent straight into the light port, then out the other side of the light, and out of your room this should be suffcient venting even for a 1000 wt light, make shure you have a fresh air supply for your plants as they will use alot of o2 as they veg and bloom. You must, replace oxygen for your plants to keep them healthy and happy!!! Try cutting a port in your curtain and placing a ocillating clip- on, these are fairly cheep, place it up high this will drive the oxygen down and keep it there, as well as rustling your leaves and branches, "exercise for bud bearing branches" When you start bloom, minimalize this to keep your plant from continuing to grow branch mass, instead of bud mass!

Photosynthesis begins to slow around 85 degrees, so the lower the better. With the glass on your hood, it wont have much of an effect if you dont have air pulling thru there. Do you have access to some duct work and an inline fan? You need to figure a way to pull the heat off the hood (thru it) without the heat getting to your girls. Be creative, or spend money. There are tons of pics and explanations of how people have created their rooms in the newbie central. Maybe take a lookie around, or search for "ventilation". Good luck mate!

I have been reading people use air conditioners in their tents. I dont have the money for a portable one but have 1 laying in the basement. Its pretty small but works good. Can I just set that on the floor of my tent?

Sorry about the bad quality. The first pic is of the inside of the tent. As you can see the tempes are in the mid 80s with lights off. The 2nd pic is of where the air is exhausting out of the tent.
