DLI is the Daily Light Integral. The number is calculated by the PAR your plants are getting from your lights then calculated with the amount of light per day. Plants have a certain amount of total light they want to see in a given day. More than that, you're throwing away $$$ on your electricity or possibly stressing the plants and less than they want they don't produce or stay as healthy.

If you're a cell phone person there's a couple decent apps which are cheap and can get you in the ballpark. I'm just using the Photone app which will tell you lux, PPFD, DLI. Depending on the phone & its camera hardware, it's supposed to be pretty accurate.

They are the Maxsisun pb1500s. They were still fairly cheap but at more efficient than the older ones I had. They definitely produce more light and have better coverage.

In a week or two, once I harvest and dry the Autos I'm doing I'm going to start some hot peppers along with my next batch of seeds. They can take over 100 days to ripe, so sort of the same timeline.
Yeah it’s pretty cool that lights are so cheap. They waste less electricity and I don’t think I’m gonna have heat issues like in the past.

Will do. I'll be going with a few habanero style peppers...they stay small and produce in quantity. They also don't need a ton of water, and like lots of light. Keeping them to 24" or less and compact is important, so none of the bigger stuff (my Aji Lemon Drops grew to about 3.5' this year outdoors). Tucked into the corners of my tent they should have sufficient light and it may still be brighter than they want.
