So, yeah socialist democrats or democratic socialists are a faction of the Democratic Party. There are many factions in the Democratic Party.
Democratic Socialists, Social Democrats caucus with the Democratic party because if they don't they won't get anything done. We are a welcoming party, happy to have your leaders in the fold and will work with your leaders in order achieve mutual goals.
Where we disagree, don't expect a lot of help but that is politics.

People in Congress who call themselves Socialist Democrats or Democratic Socialists caucus with the Democratic Party because they need our numbers. I'm pretty sure they all won Democratic Party primaries and ran on the Democratic party ticket. I'm OK with that. I don't know why your knickers are all twisted over this but that's your problem.
