Can you give us a rundown on his daily routine and feeding ? Does he have any other behavioral issues ? Is he timid ? Outgoing ? General personality traits ? He's so young and still malleable, he might turn into the buddy of a lifetime .

i feed jeffery the sience diet food. with the recommend amout for his size. he does look lean, but dont beg for human food or even sniff around the table when we eat.
he is active and runs around chasing the squrrils when he is out side.
i broke him of jumping in 2 days, got him loose leach trained in just acouple of tugs. he only chews on his toys
he dont pee in the house.
me and the wife are both retired so he hasnt been left alone unsupervised yet. i do have a home crate for him thou, he just hasnt been in there yet
his days are hanging around with me, being the summer weather hasnt kicked in yet, he hangs in my truck when i go somewhere where he cant come down.
he doesnt bark hardly at all, but he growls alot at people ...i like that..lol
he could have a great life here
i called the pound yesterday to take him back, the lady said they over loaded and no room, they been putting down returned dogs, they put 15 down last week.
been watching u tube for hints for potty training
, i been doing his potty raining the old school way....rub face in it then throw him outside.... gunna try a new aproach, a more loving and understanding
but i will say this....he wont go back to the shelter to die
he had a no poop inside day yesterday, he must have over heard my convo with the shelter lady...lol

I fed Science Diet for years. I currently feed Orijen, both are good food. I'd recommend the puppy chow, looks like he could use a few more calories.
Turns out the old school way could make hiders out of the smart ones. I currently have a very old senior female that is unadoptable because she's so traumatized no matter how much time I spend with her she can't be potty trained. She's much better now and will go several days before having an accident but still can't ask to go out. I have to watch her. The old way taught them to fear anyone seeing them defecate. I've found they have fewer accidents when trained by being watched and taken out on a strict schedule and only rewarded for the positive.

Took my boy Blue to the park today. Stairs were a big success. He gladly uses them. Except leaving the park he got impatient and just jumped right up in the truck lol. So they might be a short-lived purchase. But he still use them to get out of the truck when we got home. I gave him a gullet stick on the way to the park and he did not puke. And I thought we actually made it home with him not puking. But I opened up the door and there it was. But he looked much better this time he was not all foamy at the mouth and salivating and shit. And was just genuinely still in a good mood.

The car ride makes him puke. He actually didn't puke on the way down while chewing the gullet stick. I think cuz he just laid down and chewed on it and didn't attempt to look out the windows or anything. He loves the gullet sticks.

Don’t rub his nose in it bud im not knocking and have seen many people do that. I think it just screws with the dogs security myself. Try more positive reinforcement. No more snacks treats etc only when he shits where he should. Dogs have and understand shame. Stern talking to when he screws up and reward only when he shits outdoors.

My wife loves the animatronic Christmas decorations. One year she got one that was a black lab holding a candy cane in its mouth. We left the dog alone in the room with it for like 5 minutes and when we came back he had destroyed the thing and there was stuffing everywhere. He never messed with the Santa or Mrs. Claus ones, just the dog. Dog's are weird, some more than others

Yeah a couple tips I picked up in my countless hours of research that really helped me.
Timing is crucial. If you have the time, take him out every 30 minutes. If he goes, make a huge positive deal out of it and reward him with treats and praise. It's almost better to catch him and interrupt him in the act and CALMLY take him outside and wait for him to go. Then make a big positive deal out if it with praise and treats. If too much time passes after he did the act, he has no idea what exactly he did wrong. Just that pooping is negative or something. And then the whole pooping makes him anxiety ridden. If it's too late, you just clean it up and wait for the next opportunity.
I get with your age and mobility you want an instant buddy. But expectations have to be managed. Everything there to him is new. I think a 2 week adjustment period is pretty unrealistic for any dog.
I hope everything works out and you have a buddy for life. They really do want to please us. Just got to have the patience to let them.

Yeah mine will do that. He's got this thing for the neighbors dog now. Where we get in and he's like, wait did she just come out, did I hear her come out, I think she came out let's go out and see.My dog has decided I need to let her in the house so I can let her out again two minutes later, repeatedly.
