Update: Flipped to flower yesterday the gilrs took forever to veg though i took them a whopping 84 days total. The gorrilla glue clones didnt make it so im only running 12 plants under 3 lights. The canopies are looking nice, should be a good harvest.

So, im having a major crisis in the grow room.

My stepdown converter that i was using to power my lights surged, arced and caught on fire after i cranked the 3 lights up to 750w.

i was somewhat prepared for this to happen so it didnt cause any damage, i was able to remove it quickly.

to keep this tent running at 1800w i had to tap into one leg of the 220v curcuit. The a/c and one light are one one side, and the two other lights on the other. I have them timed to go on one at a time to keep the surge down.

the plants are actually doing very well under 600w of lights each. The tubes are so cool that my exhaust fan doesnt even kick on and ive got it set to 75°F. Its been staying about 70-72 at canopy level.

The problem now is i wont be able to fill this whole tent. Ill only be able to run it at 3/4 capacity. Im having to totally change my gameplan.

Are your lights switchable, 110v to 220v?
I run my 4 1000w HPS on a 220v 30 amp 4 light controller with a 110v trigger cord plughed into my timer.
The lights draw 1/2 the amperage at 220v.
What amperage is your220v plug?
If you're running 4 1000w at 110v that's approx a 40 amp draw. About 25 amp at 220v.

y'know now that i think about it, the ballasts actually do say 120/240v. So maybe ill do that. Its only a 15 amp curcuit though, but maybe i could add the fourth light at 600w if i ran at 220. you gave me a good idea, ill do some calculations and see what i can come up with. Thanks ;)

so i did some thinking and to switch to 220v i would need a 220v timer. Or a 4 light controller, which could cost $170. totally doable after this harvest. Or, i was also thinking of tapping into a 30a line that was dedicated to a central a/c unit that isnt there anymore, and running that to the grow.
