NEW YORK – Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January. The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs......

I went to the website. Give it a try, it may work out for you, but I got to tell you, below is first four marketing 'bullet points' in their advertising;

Total Power Consumption: 360w
Runs Cool and Saves Electricity.
Just plug in and grow, no ballasts or high wattage cooling necessary.
LED Wattage: 864w

Anybody else confused about what 'Watts' the thing really is? Watts to the LED industry has become what the 'lumen' is to the HID industry, an entirely useless marketing term. Please post the photometric data.
ugh.. WOW dude :wall: first off, good looking out. However, if you do the math on the LEDs for the 360w Extreme LED that I originally posted on page 378.. If they are 3w LEDs, then count the number of LEDs and multiply by 3. 24 x 12 x 3 = 864w
And I actually thought this looked like one of the more scientific and legit sites and lights.

And for you..
Astro,

Your are an amazing contributer to this thread.

Thank You

You'll be impressed with the advanced led lights. I'm using their stuff and the results are outstanding. Give them a call and their customer service will help you with any questions. I highly recommend advanced.
Right on. Thanks puff.

its a simple math formula. 400 watts mean how many watts ur light uses in 1 hour (watt hours). find ur kilowatt rate (price per kilowatt hour) and times that by the ammount of hours per day (month or whatever) and times that by 0.4 (ur 400 watt light). i learned that in electrical class.

include ur ballast wattage too

looking for pictures of dry weight with light product used and a little information on what it is you observed about the lights advantages and disadvantages especially those who have legitimately switched from HPS to LED

Several have been linked to in this thread, but search dunit purple kush (just finished) and kush groove blackstar (6+ weeks into flower) for some recent info. Irishboy, LEDbudguy, and more also...
Does anyone know of a grow that's completed flowering just using LEDs with little or no supplemental lighting?

seeing someone say that wattage is irrelevent or outdated i ncomparing HID to LED isn't exactly a true statement the Kessil H150 is the equivalent of a 150w HID but only draw approximately 36 watts. The H350 Spectral Halo by Kessil is a 350w equivelent but only draws about 90watts. So for comparison purposes the low watt use of Led and teh perfromance of and much higher watt HID light is totally relevent. I've seen a lot of LED grow journals that vegged great but fail in flower. The main reason being because the manufacturer uses substandard/wrong spectrum led's.f LED's aren't new technology though the application for growers has opend the field for what LED's can really do given the correct wavelengths. My H150 Magenta light when I plugged it up to test, tinted the entire room which was already pretty well lit. AS for flower power, I'll have to wait and see. All the youtube video's I have seen shows that this LED light flowers just fine. Keep in mind that it is meant for smaller sized plants. You're not going to get any kind of real results if you try to use a 150 HID or H150 in a 8x8 tent by itself. The H150 only has a 2ft radius for max coverage. How you represent an LED's performance and wattage can be twisted and confusing. However LED's have come a long way and once the price starts coming down it will become more popular.
Everyone has their own opinion and for LED's the Kessil is one that works for me. HID 400w Philips CMH works better than any HID I have seen yet. If only they would expand it to higher wattages then it would really rock!

If you think you can replace 150W HID with 36W LED and have the same results, you are dreaming. A manufacturer claim is not enough to back up your statement.

look up Kessil grows or LED grows on youtube. the video results and some grow journals I kept up with are the reason I bought it. It's working great. Or maybe I'm just dreaming and the plants are all withered & pale from lack of light. If you haven't tested it yourself you never really know whether anyones claims are genuine or not. Either way it is doing what I expected and a little bit more so far, so I'm happy with it & now that the prices are down to $200 and some change it makes it an even better buy but the spectral halo is $400 so depending on if you got the cash or not...
I have't decided yet on whether to buy anothr H150 or try the spectral halo. I may jus wait unti l the price comes down on the Spectal Halo.

Does anyone actually grow with a single 150W HID so that a comparison can be made?

I don't own a 150W HID and I'm definitely not going to buy one just to compare grows, but I'm happy with what my little Kessil light can produce, and having 2 Kessil lights means that I get to harvest every 5 or 6 weeks.

Haven't weighed this harvest yet but I am happy with the results and I will be harvesting another similar grow in a little under 4 weeks.

By the way not everyone wants to grow, or needs to grow, pounds. I grow to supply one person ... myself.

today one of the power drivers in my 150w led ufo stopped working. does anyone know where i can find replacement power drivers for ufo's?

Use Google to find the best price, but crack that thing open to see what kind of driver it has now to find which to search for. You can find drivers for 20-50 bucks.

I have been searching google but i have been getting extreamly confused on witch one i need. and would it be better if i replaced both the power drivers?
also i cant even find a driver that looks like the ones in side my ufo

each driver powers half the light so would both drive need to be 150w or are they split up and each running 75w's?

I am goin to be getting a new one but i just dont want to see a great light go to waste so i want to fix it.

They should have a sticker or something with either a part number (for a specific match) or the output for a generic match. Each driver should run half the panel so 75W but its possible that 150W was twice your actual power draw. For example, the Blackstar 240 says 630mA, and pulls about 120W-123W to the lights total. Divide that in half and each driver is pushing 60W, which at 630mA is almost 96V. (This was verified with multimeter) So a 96V 630mA should work to replace the BS, but be sure to get the right output for yours, as 1W diodes run closer to 300mA. If both drivers are toast its probably best, but as long as you get a match that works you should be good just replacing the bad one.

brilliant plant bro interested to hear what the dry weight was could you give a little more information on what light you exactly used for that plant , nutrients, and about how far you had it hanging from the top of the plant?
