Yessir, unless I don't see good dense bud production, at which point I will go to the bullpen for the B/R UFO

Not expecting to though as I will be adding ~ 50w of WW by mid flower

Next upgrade will be to T8/12 LED bulbs. I can buy 20w 4ft bulbs @ $30/. 6 of them should easily outperform my globe bulbs while providing much bigger coverage area.

Once again, as the tech improves, I can simply replace a couple bulbs at a time, instead of a whole engine

Another thing... the tube bulbs will save ~ 6-9" which can be a BIG deal

Since they are self-ballasted, I am going to buy just bulbs + tombstones to lock them in place + a simple DIY skeleton frame. Don't know if needed, but I have 4 reflectors that would be easy to incorporate

I actually thought that $7.93 a piece was quite reasonable...

The T8 leds will put out a bit more light though....

OK, but couldn't you make the same comment about household led globes, or, cfls? Anyway, I am not the only one, others (with successful threads) are also using household leds

IIRC your household globes are more upmarket philips ones? I would expect them to be using "modern" whites with broad peaks, rather than the cheap/oldfashioned way of making white, with blue led + yellow phosphor.

Looking at the diodes in Chronic's photo, they look identical to the ones in several of my Utilitech HH globes- I took a couple globes off. The Philips and 22w Utilitech are remote phosphor

Look it's ok to be skeptical. I just don't take 'skeptical' for fact. I am willing to explore. So far, I have proven many sacred truths, from grow cubes, media choices, low pressure hydro, high pressure hydro, aquarium bulbs for HOT5, and HH leds for veg (clearly I have proven this- photos in this thread), so to me LED T8s is just another sacred cow to tilt. Even if they aren't as good as my HH for flower, they will still be used for vegging

It won't bother me in the least, if in the end you say "told ya" in a nice way of course:bigjoint:

I would say you could take the same advice, was not my intention to flame but to share concern. Ive used oldschool whites on their own before, did a lot better with the spectrum filled out more (your RP's for example). vOv

SB I felt no malice, and meant none.

Hope you'll hang around and offer your point of view as flowering progresses. Haven't made up my mind whether to add 4-6 of the WW tubes for flowering, but I am leaning in that direction

In a way using T8 LED's is just a glorified strip light....but using weeker LED's (3528's as opposed to 5050's or 5630's) I guess it has its own 'housing' though.

Which cover will you get....frosted or clear?

The ones on my T5 leds are 3014's....thats why they will be better for veg....not much penetration going on...
