And wats ur yield at a 100$ HPS , including fixtures electricity bill , and maintenance and dont fuckin lie
Never said I ran a 400w I was just saying you can easily find full HID light setup for around $100; more or less. Since you ask so politely I will oblige you with some history; once upon a time we started off with CFLs same as you but in a custom grow box which costed way more to run and build than I estimated at the time for a shitty return on investment. It is the Intake/exhaust fans and 6 individual CFL bulbs that jack so much amperage. I eventually saved up for a 3x3 grow tent and a 400w HPS which is easier to vent with a single in-line fan and has adequate space for upward growth.
We have since upgraded to a 600w xl hood and a few years later went to full COB LEDs but the grow box is still here under a built in desk collecting dust. No longer run it because actually pulls down more wattage than the Timber Redwood VS which is currently in the bloom room. The redwood vs btw pulls about 620w from the wall at full intensity.
So all that being said, in a grow tent with my old 400w HPS and a homemade DWC bucket my best yield was 6 oz from a single plant. Most growers should be able to average 2-4 oz per plant depending upon training & veg time in soil; more for hydro. Critical Sensi Star and Northern Lights were the strains I ran during that time. With all the new LEDs like quantum boards and whatnot available these days you should easily be able to upgrade to a proper grow setup for a small investment that will pay for itself in a run or two.
The thing about HIDs is they run hot so then you’ll need ventilation. In-line fans can be pricey but you can find cheaper models if you don’t mind the noise. You’ll also need a tent or some other structure you can ventilate. Your power bill w/400 or 600w HID will go up about $30-$40 per mo. Probably not much more than what you are running now. Multiple small lamps typically pull more power than a single intense source.
