Lets get dirty

1 week into 12/12
heres a group shot of those that got only root drenched with the tea
theres 3 across the back that are super wide

everything looks good
maybe some very mild magnesium def but im not going to bother with it yet


this bottom picture in 5 gallons is my test subject plant, its the plant that got the tea spray with Mexican guano
looking at the lower leaves the N might have been slightly heavy

yesterday it was showing light green and now its good and green
next time i would cut the mix 4:1 max. as it seems the 3:1 is slightly strong

Everything looks awesome! I stopped by a few of your other posts as well, it really seems like you know your stuff. I think I'll hang around and maybe learn a thing or two. Thanks. If you get some time stop by one of my journal's I have going. I'd be interested in some advice.

Indeed, nothing was further from my mind.
I neither have the character nor the time or energy for that sort of thing.

You had some very competent - and much more experienced than little me! - people trying to help you. And I saw you were really trying. However, I also saw that it seemed you weren't "getting" what they were saying at all.

I put that down to the paradigm change that goes with switching to real organics, especially if one has been using chemical methods intensively, and chimed in to cast some light on those fundamental differences.

perhaps I mis-understood your intent and mistook your humor

sometimes that happens when too people are not communicating face to face where one can read the others facial expressions to identify intent

I don't mind at all some humor, maybe im just sensitive..lol

its just so often conversation on the web turn ugly maybe I miss judged

so after my test subject responded well to the tea I then proceeded to spray the entire lot

holy compost crap

they grew 6" to 8" in 12 hours

now theyre maybe other contributing factors and
keeping in mind theyre 7 days into 12/12 so theyre prone to stretch with vigor during this phase so I should shout too loudly but still theres a very noticeable amount of growth so quickly to a point of WOW

one thing for sure I notice
the plant growing in soil vs my previous hydro grows

the current plants grown in soil the greens are brighter almost glowing neon and shinier than im accustom to seeing in the hydro
grows
I wonder if the difference is in the ammonium N and and Urea N that compost provides that isn't found in typical hydro fertilizer mixtures

I came across this link in my searches

its about lawn care but I found the info about gypsum and or vs lime very useful

so like I said I have a couple new strains in small 5gallon container that are on a test run to see if there worth growing big

the large plants got front loaded early with calcium nitrate to make give me the calcium the fox farm soil is lacking

these in the smaller 5 gallon containers I did not give them any calcium nitrate and now theyre showing def
when I transplanted them I sprinkled maybe 1/2 tsp of egg shell flour and hoped that would eliminate the need for calcium nitrate inputs but either it wasn't enough or its not yet available

so the question is;
by what organic method would I solve my calcium def that would avoid the use of calcium nitrate or calmag product

I believe the answer would be gypsum since it is quicker than lyme
but how quick is it

if I apply gypsum as a top dress today how long before it starts to become available? two weeks???guess

and how much should I add.... I was thinking maybe 1 oz??
and then maybe another 1oz in two weeks ??

looking at the build a soil re amend kit the call for 1/2 cup gypsum per cubic ft 7.5 gallons
which seems like a lot idk

I guess the point is figuring out how much I need to add or can safely top dress knowing the ffof is super light on calcium and magnesium

holy fungal tea
poop aged with oatmeal aged 7 days

went into todays tea
brew ten hours
4 gallons water
5 cups compost (EWC, horse and cow, alsaka humus)
4 oz molasses
4 oz hydrolyzed fish

to be cut;
1 part tea 4 parts water

never really got a feal for how to correct calcium so I ended up tossing in 1/2 tsp calcium nitrate for calcium and 1/2 tsp Epsom salt to only the 5 gallon pots

they were looking kinda pale anyway so the N might be a good thing

hopefully I will eventually get a better feel for how to use the gypsum and in what amounts as well as identifying the tine release factor and how quickly it becomes available

I really don't want to use the calcium nitrate but its what im currently comfortable with and I know how much is safe.
I also know itll leach out quick enough if I end up with a caution imbalance

im surprised I haven't found in my searches some literature that talks in terms of how quickly or slowly amendments become available
with some type of guide line to a time frame

I understand it is relative to the biology and will always vary

but it still would be interesting to see some type of example or study maybe with weekly or biweekly soil tests or something

idk if that even makes any sense maybe its flawed thought idk

so im going to be mix this soil here soon to let it cook

2.5 gallons humus (compost/EWC)
2.5 gallons aeration (perlite)
1 cup lime (oyster shell or dolomite) 50/50
4 cups mineral rock dust (basalt )

1.5 cups mix
2part kelp meal 1-0-2
1part cup alfalfa 3-1-2 (optional)
1part cup crab meal 2-3-0
1part cup neem cake 6-1-2
cook for 4+ weeks

re amending soil
1 cubic ft soil
1.5 gallons humus (compost/EWC)
1 gallons perlite
1/2 cup gypsom
1.5 cups mix
cook for 4+ weeks


tea (mix 4:1 ratio)
4 gallons water
5 cups of compost and or earth worm casting aged 7 days in oats
4oz Unsulfured Black Strap Molasses
optional; substatute 1/2cup of compost for 1/2 cup alfalfa meal or bat guanos
or
optional; 4 oz hydrolyzed fish

There's knowledge everywhere but I still thank you I still learned a lot from you. I'll probably attempt using teas more on my coco grow

Good stuff man

If you need fast acting calmag you could do a water with Espom salts , 1 table spoon per gallon of water. Took care of my ladies
