I dont know or really care what has better lumens, Ill go as far as saying theres no difference. What matters is your space and how you position the lights that should be the factors in which you use.
I use CFLs, had i a little more space id use FL, had i enough space id get a HPS

3) 6500K vs. 6500k
4) 3-6 inches vs. 4 feet

I understand that you can use the 4' fluorescent and have more plants under them.

Can you guys tell me the t-5 spec., I have always been open for new ideas. I'm using four foot t-12 for clones full spectrum x 2.
thx

just so you know its not the amount of lumens that makes the plant grow its the spectrum.
This is soooo wrong.

Start with a 400w, then hit them with a 600w watch the difference in growth.

If it was all about spectrum, you wouldn't get better results from a 1000w than you do, I dunno, say a fluoro.

The plant wouldn't need trichomes to intensify the light if it was all about spectrum. The plant produces trich's as it needs to intensify the available light to grow adequately... and I'm talking about the sunlight.

Bring a plant beneath the tiny luminosity of a 400w HID and it will not grow as big, nor I believe as potent as a 1000w. The plants may produce trich's to magnify light, and light ages the trich's (therefore cannabinising them)... but trich's I believe will age slower beneath lower light levels, therefore the plant will not need to produce as many during the dark (very low light) hours.

Light intensity, or luminosity is the most important factor, not spectrum.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
This was a real old thread I happen to come across so had to add to it.. I voyed no they have purpose. i used them in my house lights for few years to bring electric down for my HID lights but have since dumped my 23 watt cfls for 3 watt led house lights which if run 24 hours a day 365 cost 18 cents each a year to run
