there's a link to the growfaq, go there, read up, then ask questions

but the answer to your question is about 4 months, but you can shorten or lengthen that time if you want.

I've read the GrowFAQ. When I say lifespan, I mean if you never harvested it...how long would it last just by itself in the wild?

I mean, if you kept it from flowering by putting it under 18/6 then it might live for a few years

thats precisely the idea behind a mother plant, keep it in veg and take clones...

I'm pretty sure that there's a certain age that it does die, all life dies eventually, plants are no different. Cells become weak as they age and eventually this leads to death of any life.

you can turn a plant into a hermie by doing that. and the buds won't have much THC in them if they just started.

you didn't ask about potecny or the fact that the overstress will cause a hermie that you can add chemX to and recive feminized seeds

I pretty sure he was asking how long it lives in the wild.
And the answer is one year. The plant is survived by it's children(seeds) embedded in it's flowers.

mother plants can live for years as long as you crop branches to keep new growth active and 24 or 18 hour light cycles... however i keep my moms under 24 hour light just to keep out any chances of budding (peace of mind thing).

in the wild the plants will live from the time of germination till the second or third frost and die off like most brush and weeds.

the first plant i ever got to bud outside... i moved indoors and kept alive for 4 months... until bud rot set in... i was so fascinated by a growing bud!! lol
