I have no problem with Mars since they openly admit that they dont like the cost of cobs and hence forth adopt a different marketing path but you have no right to call hps inefficient, this whole site was founded on them and not all of us live where its too hot, leds are too cold for where i live without a little supplemental heat.
Don't worry bro, that guy can only get a few ounces off his whole grow while us HPS users are harvesting pounds, looks like we get the last laugh.

I hate that it even comes up, no grow lights are that bad or we wouldnt all be stoned.
HPS is not inefficient if you know what your doing. It isn't any hotter then the equivalent wattage of a mars. Plain and simple hps is the best cheap system on the market and there's a reason it's been around so long. I've had the same 1 k light for 7 years and I bought it for 225 replaced the bulb once and it still performs as good as a cob system that will cost me over 1000 bucks up front. Not knocking cobs but they are pricy for most hobby growers.
I try to tell that to people but they don't listen much , i know i can grow good quality buds under just about any light, i have finished plants under leds,cfls,t5's, hps , mh lights, and now i am testing out a cmh light. I really think it's mostly the gardener.

I too have done good grows under t8s, t5s, cfls and hps. I do see a couple lights out there that are up and coming but price and taking a chance are too big a step. Id try cobs if they were a lot cheaper.
Seems really bright to me, i got a conversion kit so i just reused a reflector , check it out for yourself, it was cheap like 240$ total with the bulb http://growershouse.com/ceramic-science-315w-cmh-light-conversion-kit
One day soon i will upgrade from hps to somthing similar but better, imo you cant beat a single point light source for flowering. Remember me when you do a results thread
they are power hogs. you can get just as much bud from leds with less power consumption and less heat. Fact.
T-5s can grow some great bud. I use Hortilux bulbs. 4=FS-UV, 2-460s and 2-660s start to finish.
That was based on true wattage, leds save nothing in comparison.
