You sound like me -- smoked for 30 years before it ever occurred to me to plant some (duh.. for me, that is).
You really do need a dedicated indoor light source (preferably a high-intensity discharge variety), or a safe outdoor location planted after the soil hits 60 degrees F (15C). Plants in a window are unlikely to get enough light, or the right timing of light to make it into flowering stage.
The "Buy Dutch Seeds" and "Amsterdam Seeds" sites also have good growing guides on them.
As general advice, it's really worth the time to do as much research as you can stand before you plant a single seed. It's not super-complicated, but there are a lot of silly little mistakes that can be easily avoided. I got so hyped up about the thing, I was making huge mistakes right out of the gate just out of impatience. An extra day or two on the 'net will resolve many, many questions and save you a lot of time.
