...its bad and good...mostly bad though...it does help promote more growth from the lower branches..but the lower branches dont produce much bud.cutting the leaves can also stunt its growth....yeah the side branches will rapidly grow and new growth will show...but like i said the lower branches wont produce much bud.your taking life from the plant that would normally put more growth into the top (cola) of the plant.when you take out the big fan leaves..your taking away the source of where the plant gets most of its lights.....so if its a dying leaf..trim the really bad areas and wait for nature to take over...if its green..leave it be.it you want more light to side of the plant for the other budsites...add more light or lst it

id add more light if i was inside...and its nearly 4 feet tall how would i go about LST it?

You dont have to follow his diagram shape wise if you dont want to, but keep all the colas at the same height, the main growth point auxin is always in the top growth the of the plant, if you've got an even canopy of the same height....well, you get the point.
