LumiGrow ES 600w Challenge

Hey calibuddz,

I love your work man! This is inspiring to me, as a new-comer to LEDs. I read through your previous grow with 1 unit and i found it really amazing. Can't wait to see how these beauties turn out!

Can't wait for the weigh-in Cali! When is harvest on these girls? 8 weeks? hoping you'll continue the side by side through the harvest & curing as well. Educational as much as it is fun to watch!

6 WEEK UPDATE.....

i wish i could be excited, but things arent doing too great. i keep hoping that they will pull through, but they are looking worse and worse everyday. the bushmaster application is STILL taking its toll. i am seeing more dead and dying leaves every time i look at them. even the bud leaves are dying off. i will continue the test until its done, but i really cant consider the results as a "true" side by side. i am very bummed, as i have never fucked up like this. people have always told me horror stories about using BushMaster, but i have never had it affect any growth when using it in my soil beds.

here are the plants in the soil bed, under a 1000w HPS. they are from the same mom. same age, same nutes, same everything....besides the lighting. no sign of any stress, and they just keep growing and growing.

Can you flush out the bushmaster at this point to save what is still there?

Are you pHing the water going in and the run off? Those plants look like their pH could be off due to all of the leaf curl

SUCK AN ASS!!! Maybe it's time to go back to beds eh??? I like the bed idea bro...one pot...one place to water...easy as pie. plus more buffer in there... Maybe just fewer plants per bed eh? I dunno....this sucks bro...

They were right up there with the 600W too....

I genuinely believe led's are the way forward its just not viable economically at the moment - the new osram ostar led's which would be ideal are about 50 quid a shot and you still need a few of them.

A flushing may be a savior.. Looks likes the soil is pretty dry as well, what if you were to just really give them a lot of good fresh drink? Your getting close to the flush time anyways, right? So it certainly couldn't hurt them at this point to flush.

i can't believe you put in so much work and ruined it with the bushmaster.

i also can't believe you didn't flush it when you first knew you messed up with the bushmaster. everything else was done with surgical precision.

can you summarize any preliminary conclusions about LED vs HPS?

7 WEEK UPDATE......

the LED side is done. all the trichomes are amber. they are getting nice and dark too. i will give them the axe on monday. i cant believe how quick they finished up. its usually the opposite, where the LED grown plants take up to 2 weeks longer to finish up. since the plants are much more sensitive to nutes when grown under LEDs, the overdose of BushMaster really launched them to the finish line. i wish i had a USB Scope to show the difference in the trichomes between the two tests. all i have is a handheld scope at the moment.

meanwhile, the HPS still has a week to go. the trichomes are still clear, only a few seem to be getting milky. i had to top them a couple days ago. i saw a funky looking leaf right above the top cluster on a top. i bent the tip to take a peek inside and the bud rot had already gotten up into the tip. so i went and took all the tops to avoid losing any weight. the bottoms are slowly starting to purple down. they are still swelling and getting stickier everyday. i will keep them going the full 8 weeks.

i will start to flush the HPS side now. the LEDs were flushed right after the BushMaster started to burn them. after that, they had a mild nute formula. i have been flushing them for the past week with ph water and Humboldt Honey. for this last watering they will get water only.... what do you guys think?

It looks like you still came out okay dude. I would be more than happy with that harvest. There is no way to compare them because of the sensitivity to the nute's. Are you going to go back to beds? Maybe the beds with both units would really rock. I hate trying new things, although sometimes we have to...

Should I get lumigrow #2 coming Cali? Check your junk box too bro...I been mailin' ya!

the LED side took the 5ml of Bushmaster with some sensitivity. meanwhile the HPS took it with little problem, only showing slight leaf curl and tip burn. i turned the blue back up on the LEDs. we should start to really see some chunking during these next 2 weeks.


i would love to do a round with 2 LumiGrow units, and have a 400w or 600w HPS in between them. that shit would rock a 1000w HPS, hehehe.

If you have a few weeks to wait till your next grow, you are welcome to keep an eye on my grow for the LED + HPS results.
I'm currently running 4x90w LED UFOs and a 400w HPS.

well it looks like HPS won this one! having a 400watt advantage and also no nute burn.
