Lunari's indoor-noob grow

Small update to yesterday's post... I ended up cancelling that order other than the Maxsisun MF 2000 for $135. I really wanted a 2x4 and the fact that a 36"x20" has slightly less square footage than my 2.3x2.3 Mars setup was bumming me out. So I ordered a Vivosun 3x3 instead and upgraded to the adjustable speed Vivosun carbon filter kit. $300 for a 3x3 filtered with a 230 watt QB seems like a good deal to me! They were all Prime too so free shipping.

I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to run the two tents but I have some feminized seeds (Barney's Mimosa x Orange Punch, freebie Bruce Banner, Barney's Moby Dick) and ordered a few autos (Barney's LSD auto, Barney's Skywalker OG auto, auto freebie) I also have one mother plant and a triple cheese clone rooted and ready to be turned into a kratky bonsai mother plant.

I've had a busy morning so far and haven't checked on the Triple Cheese so I'll probably post an update with pictures later. UPS just dropped off my Vivosun trim tray, trimmers, and magnifier so I'm stoked to check those out.

She just keeps looking better and better. :weed: Enjoy the photos, wish you all could smell her. I'm really happy with how my first grow is turning out. Many years ago I grew a foot tall plant that yielded a couple grams under a couple of small cfls with miracle grow soil and no nutrients but I'm not counting that as a grow lol.

Tuesday, October 12th (Flower day 68)

I am planning on chopping her down on Saturday. I have had so much fun with this grow that I got another tent so I can have less time between harvests (and give me more excuse to play with plants). The new tent is a 36x36x72 inch Vivosun. I was worried that the tent would feel cheap compared to my more expensive Mars tent but it gets pretty close. My girlfriend zipped me up in it to check for light leaks and there are none. :D

Saturday, October 16th (Flower day 72, overall day 113)

I chopped her down today. It was a struggle to remove the branches from the scrog nets but the victory was mine! I had to put the branches somewhere so I started hanging them in the 3x3 from coat hangers and eventually decided that was going to the place to dry her so I moved the scrog nets into that tent and got it done. First grow is a success!

Conclusion!!!!

It is all dry, trimmed, jarred and weighed. I ended up with 8.55 ounces of flower (239.29 grams) plus 3/4 of a half-gallon jar of trim and tiny buds (not included in the weight obviously). That puts me at 239.29 grams/150 watts = 1.6 grams per watt.

All of it except my state's legally allowed one ounce was lost in a boating accident right after weighing. bongsmilie

October 28th - Day Zero

I put a germinated Barney's Farm LSD Auto seed in 3 gallons of coco/perlite. The plan is to pop a new auto every three weeks or so depending on how long each plant takes to finish. Eventually there will be four autos in various stages of growth in this 3x3 tent under a Maxsisun MF2000 (240 watt).

At the same time I started that seed sprouting I started a Barney's Mimosa x Orange Punch to run in my 27"x27" TS1000 tent but she hasn't sprouted yet. The plan is to manifold her to the exact number of tops as scrog net squares I have (36).

October 30th

Small update, the Mimosa x Orange Punch has sprouted so I put her in 5 gallons of coco/perlite in the 3x3 with the LSD Auto. I also moved my kratky mother plants from the windowsill and some cuttings into the tent as well.

The LSD Auto has just started peeking out of the coco. :)

Welcome to my garden. I have blueooth thermometers/hygrometers being delivered today to go in the tents and will put the current one outside of the tents. For now I am only using the 3x3 but will be moving the Mimosa to the 2.3x2.3 tent at some point. I am currently enjoying my first harvest and deciding which bonsai mother plant get to stick around.

I took a clone from my Triple Cheese mid-late flower to preserve the genetics in case she was a keeper. I had her re-vegging on the windowsill but with the days being so short she was still trying to flower the new vegged growth. So into the tent she goes!

IMG_4513.JPG
The Barney's Mimosa x Orange Punch has emerged from the coco. She is in a 5 gallons of coco. I am going to manifold her into 36 tops to perfectly fill my scrog net in the 2.3x2.3 Mars tent.

IMG_4516.JPG
The Barney's LSD Auto is doing good. She, along with everything else in this tent, is getting 1300ppms of Masterblend @~6.4ph.

IMG_4519.JPG
Please excuse the dead leaves, I need to clean her up a bit. This is a bonsai mother of some unknown dispensary bagseed.

Excellent job, very nice results and congrats on your choice of stup, had the same considerations with my rectangular setup, still happy I went for this although less lighting options. I went for the SP 3000 by Mars Hydro in the end and covers my 2.5 by 4.5 very well! Looking forward to your next grow. If you don't appreciate comments, let me know and I will remove it.

Update! Update!

I have decided to pull the bag seed bonsai mother, after smoking both I like the Triple Cheese better. Hopefully, the Mimosa x Orange Punch will be even better!! Pretty soon the Mimosa will be moving into her own tent. The auto tent should fill up fast popping a new seed every three weeks. :)

Lights are on a 20/4 schedule. I'm still feeding Masterblend @ 1300ppm and 6.4pH. I didn't actually check the readings last time because I was in a hurry but it has been really consistent. 1 gallon of tap water (~300ppm), 2g Masterblend, 1g epsom salt, 2g calcium nitrate, 0.5ml??? second notch on the dropper of pH down (GH kit). Because they are in final containers, but also seedlings, I only water/feed in a circle around them. Since I'm not achieving runoff yet, I switched it up a few days ago and did one with just plain water to hopefully prevent any buildup of salts.

Everything is going well. They were growing their 5th nodes so I topped them both down to the 4th node. The LSD auto will only be topped once and then will either be left to grow or I may try LST.

Both girls responded well to yesterdays topping. They didn't seem to mind a bit and I think I'm seeing new growth already.

The monster-cropped Triple Cheese mother is doing great as well. I'm going to take a cutting from the Mimosa at some point so there will be two bonsai mothers in the tent.

Sunday, July 18th

I have circled some concerning areas. I did some research that led me to believe I need cal mag. I bought a bottle of CALiMAGic sometime after noticing this.
At this point in this grow are you using the 3 part Masterblend or just the base MB? I am under the impression that a Calcium supplement is already included in MB tomato and MB hydroponic; is what's already there not enough? Your plant does look good and [IMO] the deficiency, if indeed there is one, looks minor. Thanks!

I am using the 3 part Masterblend 4-18-38. The cal-mag was not needed because of the epsom salt and calcium nitrate with the Masterblend so I stopped using it. I'm going to give the bottle away to a friend that grows next time I see them.

I worried a lot about little things the first grow but it ended up going really well and my second grow is much more relaxed so far.

Here's a picture from tonight right before feeding. I have a Barney's Skywalker OG seed germinating right now to join the fun in the tent. On the left is Barney's Mimosa x Orange Punch and on the right is Barney's LSD auto.

The Barney's Skywalker OG finally popped the other day so I put her in some coco and started her on the same strength Masterblend that the other plants get to keep it simple. It works out to 1200-1300ppm and ~6.5 pH for reference.

IMG_20211129_163248935.jpg

The Barney's LSD auto is doing well and started flowering the other day.
IMG_20211129_163243806_HDR.jpg

The whole auto tent with a small re-vegged kratky Triple Cheese mother in the corner. It's a 3'x3' Vivosun tent with a Maxsisun MF2000 240 watt light.
IMG_20211129_163428495.jpg

I moved the Mimosa x Orange Punch into her own tent and started scrogging her today. She will be living in my Mars Hydro 27"x27" tent with a TS1000 pushing 150 watts. I'm not going to hesitate to remove growth this time to only end up one cola per square. I think I would have gotten more last run if I didn't have my squares so crowded. I'm really liking the cheap Bluetooth thermometers/hygrometers for keeping an eye on things.

I'd guess that 1200-1300PPM would burn a seedling into oblivion, I'm shocked! This is challenging what I would assume about PPM strength and seedling stage for sure. LOL, hard to believe really... all i can say is WOW! You are using MB only, right? No other additive or anything else, isn't that right?

I am only using tap water, Masterblend 4-18-38 (with the included epsom salt and calcium nitrate), and a little pH down. If you get Masterblend it is very important to make sure to follow the order on the package first Masterblend, then Epsom salt, then Calcium Nitrate. Instead of mixing after every step you can simplify it one bit by adding the Masterblend and Epsom salt and then mixing before adding the calcium nitrate and mixing again. I used Flower Fuel P-K booster in flower on my first grow but I don't think I'm going to use it this time.

I am not running full strength as it says on the package. I use 2 grams Masterblend, 1 gram Epsom salt, and 2 grams Calcium Nitrate per gallon of water. There are threads on here I have read where people switched to a nutrient like Masterblend or Jacks 3-2-1 and had to increase their PPMs quite a bit compared to what they were feeding previously. I don't have a target PPM I go for, I just started using the same strength that is popular for kratkys that got my interested in trying to grow things.

Excellent to know, thanks so much for that information, it's helpful for me. What's the ppm of your tap water, I checked mine and got a 96, which from what i've seen, is not bad. You already answered my next question, thanks again, that is, what about using ph up, down. I see you are using it, does this add to ppm's as well? Stay cool.

"I am not running full strength as it says on the package. I use 2 grams Masterblend, 1 gram Epsom salt, and 2 grams Calcium Nitrate per gallon of water."
Obviously you are using a scale, which I probably should acquire, (.1 or a .01 gram scale), looking into that, but I have been seeing others say 2-2-1 in veg, and I am seeing now Vegetative Stage: [Masterblend 4-18-38 - 2 Grams], [Calcium Nitrate - 2 Grams], [Epsom Salt - 1 Gram]
Flowering Stage: [Masterblend 4-18-38 - 3 Grams], [Calcium Nitrate - 3 Grams], [Epsom Salt - 2 Grams] .
For clarification you are using 2-1-2 from start to finish, yes?

"There are threads on here I have read where people switched to a nutrient like Masterblend or Jacks 3-2-1 and had to increase their PPMs quite a bit compared to what they were feeding previously. And as I understand that is 12-1300PPM.
I've seen others speak of fulvic acid and silica as additive but it seems you had great results using only the base trio so can't argue with that!
I've expecting to have my MB in one or 2 more days and will be rolling with it asap. I'm wondering if I should pre-charge my coco/perlite 70/30 with maybe a 1/2 strength solution for 2-4 week plants which I would transplant within 2-4 days of the pre-charge. Any advice you may have is welcome. Thank-you.
