Is it a better yield than scrog though?
I would say that the yield is comparable, but the style of growing differs in a few key areas.
SCROG favors one plant, vegged for a longer period and constantly trained to create an even canopy. You can fully train most plants to cover whatever area you have, given enough practice and correct genetics for what you are doing.
The plant is also not mobile, for obvious reasons, so if you need to move plants around, i.e to water them, that would be an issue.
There are a couple of different ways to mainlining/manifold. The Nugbuckets variant focuses more on 8 or 16+ solid colas, with most everything else stripped off.
Nebula, however, favors a more liberal approach with the branching and keeps most of the good branching that will reach the top. By using a mixture of lollipopping, LST and strategic leaf removal, you can get impressive results, and save yourself a ton of LST time compared to a scrog.
Long story short, both will require a longer veg time, but most of the work with manifolding/mainlining is done before you enter flower, so it's pretty much smooth sailing and some occasional leaf removal from there.
It's also extremely suited for tall stretchy Sativa plants that you need to cut down to size a bit.
Worth noting that I'd prefer mainlining plants that grow with vigor and can easily take repeated toppings without getting stunted. If it's a first time growing in a new setup, or I need to trial/error more, I might favor the scrog.
