you can still top to keep things under control... I'd also clean up the bottoms now too... the low suckers should all be pulled... you'd rather have that energy spent on the main tops

Growing 100 % landrace sativa ( Acapulco Gold ) original genetics as a preservation project . Seed germ date 5/23/19 12/12 hr light date 6/23/19 . Started bringing them outside during the day 7 /17/19 . They will probably be ready by Thanksgiving . This isnt Barney's farm AG 70 days flowering not gonna do it . Just this humble Massholes opinion . I'm on Cape Cod , pot doesn't grow too good past October 15 th down here . Keep a monthly update with pictures

I think your doing okay. Growing outside your gonna have bugs take a bite out of some of your leaves, it's not a big deal. At this time of year your gonna get some yellowing of the lower orginal leaves.
Saw a pic at the bottom of this thread, those leaves do look quite thin, maybe sativa dom in the 80% range?

Wow you did a hell of a job with that garden. Beautiful design and set up. I'm in the Northeast as well, was worried about the 100 degrees but they took it like champs. I think over 80 degrees overnight which is crazy.

Outside I have 2 Critical Purple Kush plants that are finally growing strong after being stunted for a month after putting them out. I just put out another Lemon Auto after having 2 already die, and now this one is starting to go down hill. I also have a bunch of clones getting big that I may put outside to clear space inside. The wind here is really beating the plants. Inside is going much better though I dont have ac and the grow room stays within 5 degrees of the inside room temps.

Cool. I'll chop some. I've just never topped this late.
I lollipop sometimes, but more for airflow and mold concerns than wasted energy.
On the years outdoors that I've had 2 of the same plants done differently (one lollipopped and one not), Ive never really noticed an appreciable difference in the final buds. Plus...I usually harvest the tops that are done, and leave the rest to finish anyway.
As crazy as it sounds, I actually appreciate larf and trim. My sister makes insane edibles, so the trim/larf pile is always welcome because it let's me keep the good stuff for bags!
I was thinking, we are at the right time of year to do an experiment to try and see if it makes a real difference. I could pick 2 plants, same size, same strain, same pheno, same pot size, same location, same soil, same schedule...lollipop and defoliate one, and leave one natural.
Not sure what the results would be worth (or if either outcome would change my ways!), but we could see how much it affects harvest and quality. If anyone would be interested that is.
It wouldn't be interesting to do it just for myself. Haha

When I have attempted similar things in years past, our weather in the fall has prevented me from going the distance.

Yea man, you arent kidding about that wind. Great for finishing up though. Mold will have a tough time catching on in that wind tunnel of a porch you have!
I would definitely stake those babies. Wind is great. But unchecked, insane wind, on young unsupported plants can be a big issue. As I'm sure you know living there!

That's the way to go blackie... try different approaches... I've been trying something different every year for almost 20 years now and every year I learn something new
This is the best time for final shaping ... the basic structure is there but it's time to shape the tops how you want them.... about this time every year I think "ok we're in bloom"... but they end up stretching until the first week in August... cut back the shit you won't want later, now
Just keep an eye on the nodes directly below the tops you pinch back now... they may need to be pinched back next week or the week after or things could get too burly up top

Thanks for your kind words.. it's a labor of love that I've been envisioning for years... I graduated high school in '97 and at the time "legal growing" was just a dream... I grew up guerrilla growing for years but always dreamed of what it would be like if I was allowed to do it right... I still can't believe it... but we're finally here

I have already topped and then fimmed all my plants. Plus they will get topped one more time before the flower cycle . As long as you do not do it during flower you will be fine or you could put up some scrog netting and use over under weave teq . if worried about size but you wont be able to move them if you do that so thats a no go for what you are worried about.

I'm learning that autos don't do well for me outside, but these OG Cheese plants are finally coming along especially after this weekend they seemed to love it. The bugs don't appear to like them which is great, except for a few small yellow leaves at the bottoms the leaves appear great. They were in 8 quart pots and drying out very fast so I found some 16 quart pots, the roots looked nice and full so they should love this transplant. I hope they still have some growing to do, I want big buds.

I just had some autos finish that were originally outside. They just weren't reaching their full potential. So I finished them inside in the tent. The results...
(I wear an "XL" sized glove) These are fully dry and beginning to cure. Hard as rocks. Got 5 of the big mason jars full of quality, super dense buds, and 2 jars of larf. From 2 plants.
There must be autos that finish well outside, but I'm not experienced enough to know what strains they are.

Well...not totally unscathed.
Had a few bottom branches get pushed down too far and pop off loose at the stock. Bummer. But everything else made it thru. That was some crazy rain.

I started everything inside and put them outside around the second week of June, the fem plants grew very slow and the auto just stayed the same, 6 weeks in it was still 3" tall and it's a 3 month start to finish strain i've grow indoors no problem. I tossed that one and started another auto indoors 6/25, put it outside last week and by Sunday it was yellowed and shriveled. They only thing I can think of is I reuse potting soil, maybe it had too much fertilizer from the last grow and killed it? Looking at my notes and photos i'd say the plants didnt seem to take off and thrive until the 1st week of July, next year I will be waiting to put them outside, grow them a little larger inside first. What is everyone feeding with, I use that Megacrop and 2 strains I'm currently growing appear to love it.

I am using RootsOrganic's Green Fields soil, and Botanicare's line of nutes. Specifically their Grow, CalMag, Sweet. And Bloom.
Then at the end I also add unsulfered molasses, and when they look like they need a little extra "hiyahowyadoin" in veg, I add in some of that Alaskan fish emulsion bizz. I use RO water.

Neptune's Harvest Fish & Seaweed throughout veg and bloom .. top dress throughout the season with worm castings and compost ... I also keep a perpetual worm casting tea going from April through October and use that regularly on every living thing on my property
I foliar feed FoxFarm Grow Big occasionally during veg and lightly drench feed Foxfarm Tiger Bloom occasionally during flower ... but I'm not convinced there's any noticeable benefits from these and unless this season proves differently will probably stop using them

Why are people concerned with the heat? Cannabis is from equatorial regions. They love the fucking heat. I guess the major concern would be if you're growing in dinky little pots as its all about the root zone with these plants. Give your plants some root space for crying out loud. Pop those bitches in the ground and grow some god damn treeeeeeeeees
