The plant in the front left, may be "the one".
It was a freebie, single bean from Crocker Family farms, called "Ice Water.
It doesn't show up in their current products and I only found its description from the Attitude seed bank, on one that still shows up on my previous purchases. It says it's a cross of Purple Ice Water x Banana Sherbet.
They still don't, and never did sell it.

There is no other grows, strain info or anything to be found. Lots of good things to be said about Purple Ice Water though! I wrote Brian, at Crocker farms but haven't heard back. I think they were testers and "one off", F1s and never pursued.

It grows great, clones great, stays green, even when the other plants bitched about mag def. It was frosty 4 weeks in, and the buds are like baseball bats! Its starting to get cloudy, so probably a 60-65 day finisher.

My little veg cabinet. I can run about six, #4 grow pots in there, and have a little space for clones, seedlings etc. I figured I can only run about 5 plants in the 5'x5' tent, four is even better. I run mostly reg seeds, so I always have a few too many in veg, before I get them sexed. The bushy one in the back left is a Sensi seeds, Shiva Skunk. She is next up in the tent this week. I grew outdoors for years in the 80s-90s, in Marin County Ca, and switched to indoor growing in Colorado in 2010. I love the classic strains from those decades. I'm 62 years old and I don't know if it's nostalgia, or my personal preference.
I think strains nowadays are bread for high THC, and little consideration to the "overall" type of buzz.
I never tested weed until I paid a service in Colorado in 2014. They analyzed a couple samples of Sunshine Daydream, from Bodhi, and a SFV OG Kush from Cali Conn.
These were keepers in my stable at the time and the buzz, taste, appeal was great! What was interesting was that the SSDD came in at 19.7% THC, and the SFV tested at 21%.

Nowadays that would be sold as a lower tier price at a dispensary. The new strains are 26%-30% and rumours of higher!

There is a difference between drinking moonshine, or everclear, and drinking a nice sipping whiskey. The drunk from tequila is different than a fine cognac. Grain alcohol will fuck you up, but it's not a specific buzz, just shitfaced.

I believe in our pursuit for high THC, we are losing ALL the other characteristics in the buzz.

A simple strain genetics search will take you down a rabbit hole of branches that are hundreds of strains deep! I think we are losing our roots! Remember in high school when we had spodies? We would dump all, or any booze we had in a bucket, throw in ice and drink it. You got real fucked up though.

I'm growing old classics, old canibus cup winners, and landraces. Northern lights used to be a great building block...for example.

You can build a house from recycled parts of hundreds of other houses, or buy the basic lumber and build a classic brick and mortar home. Chasing, "one off" phenos is fun, I do it myself. But at some point, we need to stop all these, "one off" breeders who found a pheno, and built 17 strains from it!

I've got some 4', LED bloom strips arriving today. I will be mounting them vertically in all four corners of the tent. With the addition of those, I will have 600 watts of LED light in there. This round of flowers, should have less popcorn. I'm still working on canopy management, lol
It gets tricky in a little perpetual with landrace sativa thrown in. I use buckets to raise the bushy, multi-topped plants in there.

If I'm being totally honest...I grow new strains too. I save a spot in my grow for pheno hunts too. I currently have four, Sundance plants in veg, from Bodhi. I still support the older breeders who started all this, years ago. I just don't chase the new, next best thing, but more of the older, established breeders.

I'm running a Mars TS 3000, 440 watt, full spectrum, with the deep red also. I use T5 light strips with far red, to use the side of the tent for staging plants in stretch. Once they get taller, they move down. Hopefully, I keep up the timing in the perpetual. I have plants in veg just holding, mainline, 4-topping, etc..

Beautiful set up and plants. I'm going to follow along if that's ok. I am on my first grow since the early 80's when i had to quit. Turning 65 soon myself.

My drying room, is an empty walk-in closet. I hang branches for 5-7 days, then do final trim and move to the rack for monitoring. I use the hanging rack compartments for all the popcorn too. This is my first time growing in high humidity. (I came from out west).
My closet is around 68-72, and sits between 50-55% rh.

Thanks, I'm glad to see a new face. Im also glad to see an old dude, who may remember some old classic strains and where growing used to be vs how it is now! I took a break from 2016, until a few months ago.
I used to veg with T8 fluorescents and flower with HPS, back in the 90s-2000s. Around 2010, I started using T5s for veg, and those are awesome! I never used a tent until now, either. The tent actually helps with odor control, light reflection, environmental control, etc...
LED lights are a game changer too! Some of the phone apps for running lights, fans, checking readings, are cool too! I also bought a par meter, so I can maximize my light coverage on the canopy.

With the new technology, and OLD knowledge, it's been going along real smooth, so far.
If you grew before, you can read plants. DON'T get too sucked into the nutrient regimen, multi-part feed systems, magic supplements, etc...

If you used JR Peter's, Jacks powder before, it still works. (Just an example)

Right on. Looking forward to chatting with folks who remember how it was in the day when it was all illegal and you really just had to figure it out yourself cause you didn't want to let hardly anybody know you had a grow going in case you got hit by the Rippers. Which is what happened to my last outdoor grow of any size in San Diego area.
Anyhow, I can tell by your plants you haven't lost a step.
I have been dreaming about smoking and growing for so long i had it in my mind that I wanted to do a hydro grow or nothing else. So, I jumped into the deep end of the pool with a RDWC set up.
My girls are 47days old today from 2 inch seedlings. Just flipped the light schedule last Thursday. Hoping to fill out my canopy and get a decent crop. Almost to retirement so not going to be as worried about pizz testing soon.

Wow! That's a nice looking well topped plant!
You should start a grow journal so people can follow it! I've embraced a lot of the new technology, but still manually water my plants, in a peat blend. I'm interested in your perspectives comparing your old grows vs the new method. I've considered using more automation.

I grew up in Linda Vista, above Mission Bay. I moved to Marin County in 1982 when I was 20.
I grew outdoors in Dillon beach for 4 years, and later moved up toward Bodega Bay and grew there for 10 years. We had to be sneaky outdoors and they used to fly helicopters looking for grows along the coast. Rain, bugs, and varmits got at the weed back then, more so than rippers. We used to camp out, the last few weeks before harvest, and always had someone sleeping outside. I remember trimming so much my hands used to cramp up, and I got a raw spot on my index finger from trimming pounds of weed!

Looking dank in here my man! I'm only 43, but I grew up on that 90's weed. I had it going until 2017 when I got sick and my buddy killed everything. I bought a bunch of seeds thinking not much has changed once I got better. Everything changed.

I remember every bean I popped growing into something that got me baked. It was just a matter of picking the tastiest Chunky one. Now it seems most strains are just a disappointment.
I also bought up a bunch of bodhi gear, not impressed so far.

I have a grow jounal on other sites but haven't found where to put it here yet. Back in the day I lived in El Cajon and we used to grow south and east of town. Likewise, bugs and critters were a constant threat, along with cops, etc. Seems like that was back a couple of lifetimes ago.

Bodhi is definitely a "boutique" breeder. Their beans are usually a pheno hunt for sure. I got Sunshine Daydream from them in 2014 and it was one of the best things I ever smoked! Since then, I've had a couple, so-so strains from them. Beautiful plants, just not stellar.
I still try and stick to a small handful of breeders who were around in the 90s. They have a lot of the older breed stock that so many of todays Canibus cup winners come from.
Nowadays, if someone finds a rare pheno, it becomes 15 different crosses of F1s and they are "suddenly" a breeder.

I lived my first 4 years of life in Chula Vista. I know El Cajon! The 60s and 70s in San Diego were glorious! I watched them dredge and build Mission Bay over the course of 10 years. I saw Sea World being built, and all the parks and trails developed around the bay. California is a bit different now!
