Megacrop

I have been using mega crop 1 part for a couple yrs now have seen 3 versions all melted good in water. What i dont like is if left open to the air it gets clumpy or worse mushy.

That's can't be avoided much. GH Maxi and other dry fertilizers will do that some chemicals are hygroscopic and and will absorb moisture. Throw it into a zip lock bag and into a plastic container and i'll stay dry 100%.

Mega Crop Canada said they have yet another new one in a few weeks. They said they won't be grinding the balls down anymore.
Something about less clumping that way.
I don't think it makes much difference. Even ground down the cluming is not too bad.
I dont see a problem either way the main thing is keep the bag sealed an dont buy to much an have it sit around. I burn thur 2500g bag each month.

I can agree that changing the "versions" so much without warning can be off-putting and the approach could have been better. The MegaCrop you can get today is better than the MegaCrop you got last year and I appreciate that. It's a fair price and I ain't one to knock a dude down why he's trying to do big things.

I will knock someone who changes formula four times now in a year with no change in packaging or notification of any kind.

Poor customer service is poor customer service. Going from a healthy garden to a nearly dead nutrient burnt mess is not an improvement. If your experience with megacrop was great then that's good for you. Mine was not and I am sharing that experience so others don't run into the same problem.

Every time you order it make sure you research it because it's likely a completely different strength and mixture as last time and you will need to dial in strength all over... Or just go with something like jacks that has been around 70+ years

Change w/o notification sucks for sure. Are you using 1 or 2 part? I'm loving the new 2 part.

When you mix new batches do you check the resulting EC?

Ok guys I think something is going wrong with my nutrient mix.

I have a starting water of 200ppm 500 scale

I’ve just added 1g/gal of Epsom
Salt and 4g/gal of megacrop.

The resulting ppm is 470ppm on 500 scale.

How on earth can 4g/gal megacrop and 1g/g Epsom be only 270ppm??

Have you calibrated your meter? That’s definitely not right

It’s a bluelab one I don’t believe you can calibrate it?

When you add nutrients to DWC the main bucket is only 20l but the entire system is 600l do you have to add the powder slowly to ensure they don’t react?

Scrubbed my pen I noticed a bit of salt build up on it.

My tap water was actually 70ppm and the total mix is now 670ppm

So 4g/gal of megacrop and 1g/gal of Epsom is 600ppm on 500 scale does that sound right?

Calnit (the white pellets) is a pain to dissolve. I have finer calcium nitrate in a bag and i mix it in the nutes today to use tomorrow.(a different product). Warm water helps but i just shake it every now and then with room temp water and it dissolves. Overnight they are homgoenous with a shake.

With MC i went back to dry weight measure. For veg i usually use 16 grams per 5 gallons and if they look like they need it i will add cal mag.

The concentrated liquid formula was messier, REAKED and its almost done. I used it on the veg garden

Plants love it in veg. The lawn likes it too. I will always use it dry now i just use a smaller plastic container to hold it so the whole bag remains dry and loose.

Mega Crop told me last week that will no longer be grinding the white balls anymore. It was causing clumping slightly.
I saw that. But wasn't really an issue.
I don't use a Hydro setup so can't advise there. I do mix my next watering the day before though. That way it has a full day to dissolve. I found the new version dissolved much better than the brown version did. I wasn't griping.

I keep my MC in a gatoraid bottle use a daryqueen long spoon to get it out. Stays like new if you put the cap back on.

I need to add 600g to my nutrient res to make it 4g/gal though so making a small litre bottom concentrate probably isn’t possible for that?
