Preach!
I've been posting some animals as leaders around the music subsection for a while now. Glad someone has good taste ;). Just caught them on the dreamsonic tour with Devon Townsend and dreamtheater.
Off to see Mr bungle next wed, and gwar in Oct. But I'm sure most of the guys in here wouldnt know who they are :). Even tho they claim to be 'metal'. :fire:

La Sexorcisto came out when I was in high school. Fucking loved that CD. Had pretty much zero fucks to give about his solo stuff.

Bro I was lucky enough to see max from soulfly perform with Deftones. He's on one of their tracks 'headup'. He came out and did the song with them it was in Buffalo many moons ago. I nearly shit my pants but instead I threw up into a garbage then crowdsurfed back to the front :)

So true about rob zombie. His horror is cool, I like his films ... and his wife. Haha. But his solo stuff can lick buttholes imo

Perhaps you've been living under a rock for the past 20 years?
I have been searching but sadly, nothing compares
to the Metal of the Golden Age of the 1980s!

Everything today is so bland.
What is on par with AC/DC, Maiden, Priest, Van Halen?

I've only been to two concerts in my life. I kinda hate live music. But Lajon from Sevendust crowd surfed right over top of me, so that was cool.

Headup is probably my favorite Deftones song. Here's a clip where it was used in a criminally underrated movie.

I've loved pretty much all of his movies. Not sure why so many people talk so much shit on them.

Listen, don t take this the wrong way because I love all those bands. To the core. But acdc, black sabbath and many other from that era are some of the easiest songs to learn how to play on any instrument. They generally all use a very basic time signature, there is literally nothing to it. The respect comes from the fact they were the pioneers of that genre and era
Van Halen ... not metal.

Tool, ministry, nine inch nails, nekrogoblikon, pigface, scale the summit, animals as leaders, gwar, mr bungle, slayer, cannibal corpse, meshuggah, poison the well, phsychostick, green jelly, I mean just to name a few ....? There's so many subclasses of metal, grindcore, deathcore, hardcore, post hardcore, progressive, death metal..... I mean again just to name a few. So saying so new music isnt good is pretty silly. Open up your mind and dive into some metal rabbit holes. You'll be surprised what you will come across. Some you will like some you will not. That's the beauty of music.

were they all canadian? i'm pretty sure he was, right?
Brockie was from Ottawa yea. Canada pride!
But they formed in California ..? I think. Either way it was Brockie and hunter (Techno Destructo) who started the 'band'
Brockie was in deathpiggy which kinda turned into gwar in the later 80's

True - but still great.

Yes, some of them are simple BUT technical complexity does not ensure "good music". Yes AC/DC is "simple" and Brian Johnson has an ugly voice but the music is FUN. "You shook me all night long" - simple and fun.

Sorry - I am not into bands like GWAR, or thrash or Death Metal. There is lots of power and sophistication, but a bit too much power and not enough melody.

So who puts out the modern day equivalent of "You shook me all night long", of "Number of the Beast", or "Defenders of the Faith"?
