What works perfect for me is to use 2 X 32w 6500K CFLs for my clones for the first week or two until they're well rooted and then switch to a 400w MH and keep it about two feet above the girlies and slowly move it closer as time goes on. CFLs imo are great for rooting clones but if you really want them to get the most out of their veg then you cant beat MH.
