Finally shot a doe this morning with my new muzzleloader. She stepped in front of the tower blind we were hunting out of at like 15 yards away. Took a few seconds to find her in my scope she was so close. Crosshairs were directly behind her shoulder blades when I squeezed the trigger, as the smoke was clearing I saw her twisting her front end away from me and running into the patch of woods she came from.We gave it 15 minutes and then climbed down, found the wad right where she was standing but no blood or hair. Searched the woods she ran into and found not a trace of a shot. I could tell which path they ran in the woods because of the fresh tracks but thats all for about 30 or so yards and there she lay at the other edge of the woods with some blood on a few trees and a chunk of lung on the ground. Was a perfect double lung shot and a nice big beautiful doe. I am thankful for the meals she will provide me and my family. Time for another.
