Care to explain why misting the undersides of the leaves would benefit the tops?
Lol you are making shit up, misting plants while the light is on is a bad idea
Those little drops of water will refract light and cause the light to magnify in small spots on the leaves
Please explain to me why misting the undersides of the leaves would keep the tops from burning?
Were they burning before you started misting?

I am not "making shit up". It provides humidity while protecting the tops of the leaves which the light hits. the light doesnt hit the underside of the leaves on my plant, i dont know about yours.

Why would you want to protect the plant from the light?
What are your grow room temps?
What light are you using?

what i mean by protecting the tops from the light, is that the light can get magnified to a dangerous point by the water droplets. theoretically burning the leaf where the water droplet is. Or so ive been told. anyway, its a better safe than sorry theory, what am i losing by misting the bottom of the leaf rather than the top anyway, humidity is humidity. and anyway, ive procrastinated and not gotten any type of thermometer yet, but id guess its a solid 65-70 during the day and 60 at night. im using two 4' indoor plant flouro's by philips( in one fixture) and two 6500 Cfls free hanging.

Wonder where you heard that?

Well when I was a new grower I had to figure out on my own not to mist in the day. Misting should always be done at night even if u think you are just misting the underside why risk it. Mist will also get on the tops. If I where you I would just start misting when your babies go to bed. What are you misting with just ph balanced water?

Poland spring water lol, once in the morning once at night both about two hours after/before lights on/off

it is one thing if you are foliar feeding, but if you are just using water it isn't doing anything really except risking of burning your leaves to the light being magnified through the droplets.

Seems unnecessary to mist with the lights on, unless you're running a 24/0 schedule.

Just do it with the lights off and you'll be fine. You also don't want to be spraying your buds in flower. Excess moisture can lead to mold.

I've read some about misting and have been growing for going on 4 years now, and i've never really seen anything positive come from misting. not to knock you, but most of the time people inquire about misting they're new to the hobby and get bored waiting for their plant to grow and want something to do to it that they think well help it grow. What will help it grow is reading non-stop until your brain can't hold anymore... Gotta go deep into this one, leaves have pores on them that help exchange co2 for o2 and they're designed to keep water off of them so this gas exchange can occur, unless you're foliar feeding, spraying will cut down on this gas exhange....also, insects LOVE humidity, fungus gnats, aphids, MOLD also... these are things to watch out for with high humidity... if you really wana better your grow invest in a decent light besides the floros. Good luck, and READ READ READ! knowledge is power, especially in the garden!

misting at night is bad. it promotes mold and desease. if u mist do it when light first turn on and simulate morning dew. honestly, clones should be misted several times a day if possible. after planted you should not have to mist anymore. unless u are foilage feeding or applying a compost tea. hope this helps!!!

I mist my plants with the light on every few days, I use plain carbonated water as the leaves will absorb the co2 from the water.
Will this make a noticeable difference? who cares, makes me a little happier.

I used to mist my veg plants all the time, but not anymore. There never seemed to be any real benefit to it, as my veg humidity was fine the way it was, so I didn't really need the extra moisture. However, spider mites like the dry conditions, so if you need the humidity, by all means do it. And I don't care about how the light hits the water droplet, might burn the leaf, blah blah blah, I've misted my moms many a times at all times of the day, and usually the moisture evaporates off the leaves faster than it can magnify the light to burn the leaves. Unless you saturate the fvck out of it. You follow?

Now flowering on the other hand....I never NEVER misted any of my plants in flowering. Like someone else said, you don't want that moisture on your buds, for it will encourage mold/bud rot. If you INSIST on misting in flowering, only do it in the first week or two, and NOT anytime after that.

I was under the impression that unless you are going to foilar feed there is no need to spray them. Or in transport moving clones to different locataion (helps them retain something i dont know just what i was told) To each there own if it makes you feel better spray away just do it with care and dont over do it. everthing everybody said is true Knoledge is Power:eyesmoke:
