Monster-cropping 101

@Tlarss Then again, by the time the last flowers fattened up, they were plump and tight, so we'll have to see. It looks like you are a few weeks ahead of me?

I've never tried those. I have blurples in a bin somewhere, but when I tried QB's I quit looking. I have had shit grows that ended up with almost no green foliage left that produced ounces of fantastic flower. I think I'll stick with what I know, but running them under lower intensity might be something to try eventually. For now I'm going to blast them with all they can handle.

Yea my next investment is some qbs for sure. Been seeing some amazing grows under them.

This is the plant that I took the clone off of. It’s Eagle Scout from green point seeds. A very nice plant that I want to go another round with.

@Tlarss
I think I have the single leaf thing figured. When each sprout starts if has single leaves. That includes all the nodes coming off the main sprout. So those single leaves are probably new nodes popping.

And the individuals. Topped is the way to go.

The topped ones stayed real symmetrical though, and I think I'll leave them growing straight up, but prune lower stuff up to the sprout. There may be a couple of little shoots from that first set of nodes trying to grow through. Cleaned up, the main sprout should Christmas Tree.

I just topped mine a few days ago too. I’ll take a picture when I get back home. All single blades leaves still

Just wondering (again) why this isn't more of a thing... 100% re-veg, and I didn't do anything special.

Mine have started to get 3-toed leaves, but are still putting out single-blade in new spots. Older shoots seem to be gradually progressing to true leaves.

Here's my "knot" leaf - the first deformed true-leaf. Getting real now.

Yea I cleaned up the underneath and took a few lowers off. It’s been a pretty long process to get it to this point where it is starting to put out regular 5 finger leaves.

What was surprising to me (and why I started this extra thread) was not just the success rate, but how quick they have responded. Might just be the strain, but I'll take it. I'm at just over a month, they are 6-9" and showing signs of taking off. I have a bunch of seeds to drop, so I'm holding off as long as possible but will cull a few. I hate killing plants but I have to think long term. Mine are short and stocky 90% indica, so that helps. But to keep up my rotation without having to jam plants in a crowded room destined for issues, 4 is the max I'm keeping. IMG_0299.JPG
The 2 in the blue circle weren't topped, but are putting out sprouts like crazy underneath. I am leaning towards keeping one of them, the one circled in yellow because 'duh', and then 2 of the others.

After the first pruning to get rid of lower sprouts I haven't done anything, but next feeding they'll get some individual attention, some pruning, and some bondage ;)

am also running a monster cropping experiment.
Have 3 monstercropped ones in a tent.
Yours remind me a lot on how mine did, dont worry the real leaves arent far away.
My first run this way too, but think theyre perfect for a scrog.
I topped mine quite early, few weeks later i simply put a net above and pressed it down gently to spread out the arms.
Worked really nice, not much work and i have my sreen pretty filled right now (2 weeks in flower now).
Honestly didnt count the days it took to reveg, was long, guess thats what some wont like on it, for me that point wasnt a issue.

This is my second run. Last was 2 different strains and I think they all behave the same, but apparently some rejuvenate quicker than others. I could have started these from seed and been about where I am now.

A few more are taking off. Since they got their first almost soaking I think the next few days will be fun.

Not sure on this one. Good sprouts, but ugly leaves compared to the rest. Splotchy and dull, but the new ones look fine, so who knows. IMG_0306.JPG
Since the real leaves are popping I think the culling decision will get easier.

I went Neanderthal on the clones today. I snipped over 50 sprouts, none bigger than a quarter.
IMG_0314.JPG The thing I found last grow was that every sprout is covered with pistillate calyxes. At some point, every damn one of those will put out a sprout if left alone.
IMG_0316.JPG
About 2/3 of them pop immediately, and the shoots start growing. The rest sprout throughout the grow. I ended up having to attempt this on the last grow when they were a few weeks older. I kept waiting for the sprouts go get long enough so I could see a stem to snip, and it never happened.

On this pic it's clear what happens at the nodes. you get one main sprout per flower site, topping helps, so topping the flower off of lower flower sites would probably speed them up, but they are hard to get to in week 3.

One limb per flower, the rest is junk coming off that limb.
IMG_0318.JPG So this time, I even sacrificed a few lower limbs because it was so crowded at the base just to make sure the trunk was clean and I could see what was going on in there. I'll let this grow out for a week or so, then cull the non-hackers.
