you have this hypothesis that if you take 2 sticks and add 2 more sticks you will have a total of 4 sticks. So you take 2 actual sticks and put them in a pile, then you add 2 more sticks, then you count the total. 4 sticks, hypothesis seems to be holding up, now lets try rocks.............
