I'm new to the forum but not growing. Wanted to talk post up a grow I'm starting, one right now for mothers to clone as well as one that will come down the road as the rooms are built.
For now, I've got
2 ChemDog x SourDiesel (Sourdog!)
6 RoadRunner (I was told by a reliable source these are NOT autoflowering. however even if they are I'll force em not to flower. not the end of the world if they do I really just want the sourdog clones. and buds of course
I germinated the seeds two days ago, originally with 4 sourdog but only 2 have sprouted, they'll go in the soil later today after it soaks a little while longer. I'm going straight up soil with this and the other grow. I don't bother with any special propagation methods either. For seed they go right to soil after germination, clones to rockwool first. Nutes are pretty simple. Mostly FoxFarm on their feeding schedule, just keeping a close eye on pH. If you keep an on pH salts and waste buildup aren't a big deal, people think you need to flush soil way more than you do. Not true, especially the whole do it 2 weeks before harvest thing - right when your trich's want all that phosphorus and carbs! Anyways, back to the grow.
The little girls right now will chill under a bunch of 4 foot fluoro's, about 160 watts total, I'll double it when they hit 8 inches or so. I won't go beyond that, not tryin to create big plants. I'm gonna veg these a while, probably like 2 months, before the big room is finished.
I'll also be germing these strains in a month, they'll go under 1 or 2 400 Watt Metal Halides. Probably 2:
Kannabia Seeds
- Mataro Blue Feminised
Green House Seeds
- Great White Shark Feminised
- Cheese Feminised
Bomb Seeds
- THC Bomb Feminised
All these strains are great. They're strong smokes, reliable growers with big yields and short flowering periods, no more than 10 weeks. These will get cloned too to go into a room I'll describe below. But also most the SourDog and RoadRunner mothers, as well as the other I just mentioned, will get flowered while the clones are growing. Gotta make some buds!
One thing about the SourDog - I'm not sure if they're feminised so hopefully there will be at least 1 female out of the 2 seeds that cracked, hopefully the other 2 will but if not, and there's 2 females, I'll probably stress the shit out of one to get it to hermie and get some seeds. I'd like a male so I can mate it, I want to do some hybrids, I'd probably mix it with the Mataro Blue or the THC Bomb. The Big Blue Sour Dog!
So here's the EPIC ROOM!
It's actually 3 rooms. The ceilings are 13 feet. All the depths are 4 feet.
The first you enter is a two foot wide airlock room. Through there you go into a veg room. It's 5 feet wide and has two tiers of 400 Watt Metal Halides in it, 25 plants under each. They'll be the XtraSun Mondo Reflectors, they're something like 22x34", big ass reflectors, with lenses and 6" duct port for aircooling, which they will be, 600 CFM fans. This way we'll be able to keep em nice and low, so 400 should actually be plenty. I know it's pushing it, but we're going for slender plants, not much training, no topping, just trimming out the bottom nodes after about two feet of growth (we'll probably FIM the tops once, but not actually TOP them). Also, the veg room will be used for drying since there won't be any plants in it at harvest until a month later. The way to dry is to just cut the plant at the stalk and hang the whole thing for 6 or 7 days until the stems start to snap, then trim it, not before. Then you bottle it to cure.
Side note - ALL of the ducting will be INSULATED DUCTING - this cuts down air noise a lot. Also all the fans will be hooked up with fan silencers, and there will be a layer of soundproofing in all the exterior walls of the setup. Being discrete with this grow is important, and there will be a lot of fans. Not enough people think about noise. Also, all the intake / outtake flanges will be hooked up with backdraft dampers so that no odors escape when the fans are off. Ozium autosprayers will be placed outside intakes and outtakes as well.
The Flowering room will be 17 feet wide, with a bed of plants 3x15, all in 5 gallon containers. Keep in mind they can grow as tall as they want, 13 foot ceilings. Below them is a drainage basin for runoff and in case flushes are needed. Above them will be 4 400 Watt HPS lights, each on their own 6 foot motorized track, in 2 rows of 2. Cool tube reflectors, one 900 CFM fan per 2 lights. There will be probably a 12,000 BTU portable AC as well. The mover, AC, and fans combined, plus 6 18" Oscilating fans in the room and 12" 1400 CFM intake / outtake fans, it will be nice and cool, we'll be able to keep the lights at 12 inches, and I'm confident it will be enough light (we'll still keep it right above 80 degrees for optimal CO2 uptake, but that will still be low enough to hang at 12"). I did a grow that was basically the same but half the size and the plants were 4 feet tall and kickin out 2 zips each, but also because of some more additions I'll get to...
There will be CO2 injection with a controller to keep it at 1700 PPM, timed to the light schedule of course. Same thing with the fans. Everything will be timed so that the climate conditions are aligned to the light cycle. I won't explain what's best for the plant and how to time stuff now, but PM me if you want me too.
There will also be a humidifier / dehumidifier and a controller to optimize the RH levels.
We'll be using FoxFarms Ocean Mix soil and like I said FoxFarm nutes. GrowBig, BigBloom, TigerBloom, but also probably BigBud and maybe some natural guano.
I think I can get 2 oz a plant, which would be right around 5 and a half p's. I know that's a shit load to expect from 1600 watts, but given the strains and the design of the room I think I can do it!
