My 1st grow (problems, questions, answers:) )

Hi all!!!

So what the heck i decided to try this "hobby" out ! haha :)

I germinated about 6 NL seeds and 2 afghan's.

Started with POOR LIGHT SOURCE (this led to 3-4 inch stems (purple & thin) good leaf color though.. Stems recently fell down about boom there they went
-this was with no fan, POOR light source.

SOO yesterday i have 2 seedlings around 3 inches that are propped up with a ligth fan and decent light (42 inch cool white fl + 2 100 watt incan lights about 6 inches away "heat isnt too strong" HOPING that the light brings these seedlings straight up again. if they dont die i will transplant them into a bigger pot and bury them up to the leaves. My other 4 seedlings are hopfully going to absorb the new light source and grow stronger (they are no bigger than 1/2 inch above soil) (pics are coming) This control group is strictly for a cheapo light setup that i created from desktop lamps and a workbench light! haha

Tomorrow i am receiving 2 LED boards thati have created a 4 X 3 ft box for that will mount up top and i will have about 3 seedlings (dont want to overdo it) in there to run against the other light source. I will be putting the LED about 2-4 inches away from the plant to HOPEFULYL prevent those lil ladys from flopping on their heads!

Should i discard the 2 that bent and fell over? or keep propped and transplant with the new light source just keeping it CLOSE..

Thanks guys! This is fun and interesting! Feel free to rip me apart! haha

you can get a straw.. measure it for the length of the stem and just a lil longer.. cut the straw length ways, and put it around the stem and push it a lil into the soil.. this will help to support them till they get strong enough to support themselves.. i wouldn't toss them till they are dead...
good luck with the grow..

Incandescent light does nothing, a pure waste of watts.

hmmm ok i was under the impression they were decent for this..

So i should replace them with CFL bulbs?
Yeah deffo, incandescent is just burning a hole in your plant, and your wallet! Get some CFL's, preferably above 5600K, these will make them bushier and help them support themselves. Look for the highest wattage possible.

can i throw whatever watts i can find into these desktop lamps? until i get rope ones?

Looking at mogul socket prewired line that can support 125 watt CFl lights should i just get one of these?

Temporarily yes, but make sure there not too close to the plant or they will burn the leaves.

125 watt CFL would be a massive improvement, you can get complete kits.

some thing like that ^ would be good.

Make sure you get the 'blue' colour for vegging then swap to red for flowering.

45W(real wattage, not equivalency) 6500K(color temp) work great for veg. Weak penetration, but among the most efficient W:lumen ratio, almost no heat.

I think if you buy 2 or 3 of those it will work. But not one unless your gonna put a few lower wattage ones around it.

The 125w (Not equvalent) bulb would be ok. The 40w bulb would probably be ok for seedlings but not for major veg growth.
