My Bud don't stink..

High all,

I am just about 30 or so days into flower of some Lemon Skunk (check my signature for the journal) and I am getting some nice little buds and when the lamps are on I can smell a faint sweet skunk smell and when they are off I smell nothing.

I have done some supper cropping and when I am finished I can certainly smell the lemon and skunk on my fingers but there is no overpowering aroma that I was all prepared to defend against (although this is not a stealth grow).

Has anybody had a good crop that was not a powerful smelly plant?

most of the real smell wont come until after harvest and when you continue to dry it and cure it. make sure those 2 are done correctly!!!!! thats the key

Andrewdavis is right. The smell will start to go from a "fresh plant" like smell into a more "skunky" smell that you are looking for in about a week and a half. I notice that the "true" strain smell starts when the trichome development starts to truly take off. And once you get to a week before harvest time, flushing the plant will 3 times the normal amount of water you would use at first, and then watering from then on with only water (no more nutrients from now on) will flush out any "chemically" aromas and allow your strain's true smell to shine. One harvested, a good cure in a vacuum sealed glass jar will allow the plant to REALLY put out some pungent smell (and a way more enjoyable smoke overall). JUST REMEMBER, DO NOT HANG YOUR BUDS OUT FOR TOO LONG IN THE FIRST DRYING PROCESS!!! Allowing too much moisture to evaporate will not only jeep you from being able to "properly" cure the rest of the moisture through the buds, and overdrying will steal away the pungentness off the aroma and make for a harsher smoke.

Don't worry brotha, your plants and buds look great so far! You will get the smell you're looking for if you keep your girls happy. Hope that reassures you that you aren't doing anything wrong that would cause you to loose your "skunkiness" haha. Peace
