My First Grow!!! 2x300w LED Green Crack!

HELLO ROLLITUP PEEPS!!!

This is my first grow, I've been lurking around for quite some time now. Got my light in and my ladies going so I guess its now my turn to start a journal

Here's the run down!
-Started with something like 17 seeds from some Green Crack I got from a friend. I don't expect amazing genetics here because I really don't know the source but it will be a nice warm up to tune everything in while i wait to get some really good genetics in the garden.
-Got 11 to germ and sprout. there is about a week difference between the oldest plant and the youngest one.
-Started the seedlings under a 125w 6500k CFL while I waited for the two 300w LEDs to come in.
-Oldest plant broke soil (or cube ) 1 Aug so that makes it 3 weeks as of yesterday. First 3 plants broke soil within a day of each other, about 3 days later 5 more broke soil. The rest were a few days after that.
***Keep in mind these babies were started under 125w CFL, I just put them under 600w of LED a day and a half ago. So they may look a little small for 600w.

The Grow
- FFOF+Perlite
- Flora Nova: Grow and Bloom
- GH BioRoot
- GH CalMag

Germinated with a wet paper towel in a dark area, planted the seeds in grodan cubes.
Later moved the grodan cubes into red solo cups with FFOF/Perlite 70/30 maybe...wasn't super exact about it.
Didn't take a whole lot of pictures along the way but late last night the room mate and I transplanted our 8 biggest babies into 2 gal cloth pots (smart pot wanna-be's?) and moved them to a new location with lots more room under the lights.

I think the transplants went phenomenally and I'm excited to see them explode in the new pots with a lot more light on them. We used a lot more perlite in the mix for the 2 gal pots (roughly 50/50) but we ran out of perlite after the first 5 plants. So we have a little experiment going on. I know Cannabis likes airy soil so I'm going to assume the 5 plants with the perlite mix will fair a little better but I don't imagine a giant difference. During the transplant I mixed an off brand Mykos product into the soil AS WELL AS applying Great White directly to the roots and the transplant site. Excited to see how they like it.

Started with 1/4 strength nutes on the 18th(?) which included the GH BioRoot. Worth noting that we also gave them a prior feeding of just CalMg and BioRoot. The plants responded really well to the GH BioRoot and just exploded with growth for 2 days after the feed.

After the initial transplant gave all the transplanted plants a healthy dose of just about everything at once. A large dose of water with BioRoot, CalMg, 1/4 strength Grow, 1/4 strength Bloom.

Drenched the new pots. Excited to see how they like it. Really focused on a well developed root zone. The current short term plan is to let the 2 gal pots dry out completely with close monitoring so i can get an idea of how long it takes for them to dry out. If by that time the plats show no signs of nute burn from the fresh FFOF and the 1/4 strength nutes I gave them, then the next feeding after the pots dry out will be 1/2 strength. If the plants show any signs of nute burn then I will give them just water maybe with CalMG, we will see. Input appreciated.

The long term plan for this grow is to Veg these babies until sexual maturity and hopefully be able to tell the sex of the plants before cutting clones and flowering. once the plants are sexually mature, we will top them, turn the tops into clones, give the plants a week or so to recover from the topping then flip the switch and flower these babies. Again input is very welcome.

The grow area is now a closet with about a 2 1/2'x4'x'6'
We relocated from a cabinet that was much smaller. I need ideas for a new exhaust/air filter system because the cabinet was easy to pull air from the outside of the small cabinet and circulate it through. The new area is just a closet with the door shut. For the most part while we are home we are able to leave the door open so fresh air isn't a problem then. Going to try cleaning up an oscillating fan I have around the house and throw it in there. See if if circulates a significant amount of air with the door shut. Going to eventually need ideas for how I can filter my air through a carbon filter when the ladies start to flower. Heard good things about S&P fans. Give me ideas people.

SO...Thats about it here we are at week 3 veg now. I will now post pictures i took today and will continue to update this regularly!

Sorry for the giant pictures people. So here we have a picture of my favorite plant of ours so far. This is the only picture I took during the transplant. We began to LST all of our plants in the red solo cups and they responded very well to the training. Producing lots of growth in the lower nodes.

Here is the current set up. That's a humidifier in the corner. Just made the decision to use this closet when we decided to move them up to 2 gal pots. So the room isn't 100% set up yet. We have mylar we are going to put on the walls and hopefully square away the electrical stuff that's just hanging around.
Here are our children! They are very beautiful. It is worth noting that in some of these pictures you are going to see burns on the lower leaves. Some are due to the 125w CFL being too close and others are due to nute burn when the seedlings grew out of the grodan cubes and into the FFOF initially it was too hot for the babies.
LOL so we decided to name all of our green crack babies after musicians because numbers are for squares. I want my plants to have personality. So i present to you Alanis Morrisette. The P is purely so that we can differentiate between the pots that got the perlite mix.

Alanis-You can see the effects of the LST. We freed them from the chains just long enough for them to adjust to their new homes. Once we see healthy foliage growth we will be tying them down to the sides of these pots too.

A closer look, responded pretty well to the LST. I believe this one was from the second group of sprouters. The first 3 that came up are really far ahead of the others and they are our star children. I will point them out when we get there.

This is NWA. Definitely one of the younger plants. But happy and healthy!

A closer look at NWA. All the LST was done under the CFL and you can see the bent stem in response but once we put them under the intense 600w of LED they all were really happy to be there and seem to just reach for their proverbial sun.

Next on stage is Modest P. Mouse.

New internodal growth responding well to the LST. Note the plants were literally only LSTed for a day or two before we cut the strings and transplanted them. So when I say they responded well I know theres not giant growth on the younger ones yet but in the little time they were LSTed there was plenty of response.

An above picture of Modest Mouse. We have a beautiful variation in phenotypes here. Modest Mouse has some seriously healthy robust looking long sativa fingers. Lovin' it!

Next up my favorite of the whole group. this is one of our 3 prized children. I believe the third to break soil. I present to you Sound Gardin. This is the plant that is in the first color picture. Gorgeous.

Take a closer look. You can see this one has really exploded underneath that canopy and that lower growth really appreciated me tying the top out of its way.

From this point on the pictures are in black and white. I was dissatisfied with how much the bright pink glow didn't show the plant definition so well. This is Sound Gardin again. Just gorgeous really beautiful plant.

Next ladies and gents is our big hitter! Janis P. Joplin. This is #1. The first to sprout. This baby has been super Indica so far. Small short fat leaves. Real tight nodes. Short and super bushy. When we trained her the lower growth really just exploded. Once we untied her and she felt the 600w of love she started growing upwards again but I look forward to when i can continue to train her because the lower foliage LOVED the light.

A small update:
My a.c. went out yesterday and temps got REALLY high. It was scary but the repair guy got it fixed the next day. Hopefully that won't shock them too much. As the temps came down the plants really looked like they were starting to reach for the light again. On some of the bigger plants the under foliage was exploding so much that the original leaves at the node were yellowing and shading out the beautiful new growth so I took the liberty to trim the yellowing leaves and let the new growth bask in the pink sun.

I sure hope this thread gets more love. I'll keep updating periodically!

Okay, small update.
Woohoo! The babies look amazing!
Unfortunately we are renting and we have a small home inspection sometime next week. So we have to hide the plants until after the inspection. They said it would be sometime between Monday and Friday. So hopefully they won't have to sit in my hiding spot for too long. Unfortunately this is going to mess with the plants lifting schedule. So the plan right now is to throw them into flower after I bring the plants in from their hiding spots. I'll post pics tomorrow before I tear down the grow room.

Day 11 of 12/12
- lights on from noon to midnight
Got some really beautiful sativa phenos.
The final count after sexing is 3 boys 5 girls. Which I am very happy about. Unfortunately my favorite plant turned out a male but I might try to selectively pollinate a lower branch of my best female.
I have 3 cuttings of unknown gender that I'm trying to get to root right now. My plan is to pick the best female and try to re veg her into a mother plant after harvest.

I introduced molasses to all regular waterings starting at about day 8 of flower. With the crop reduced to 5 I can really get a lot of light on all the ladies.

Also, I got 2 really dank seeds from a friend. One was a really strong Indica and the other was a really dank sativa. They are germinating right now and should be ready for a grow cube very soon. With green crack being such a short flowering time, I'm going to let these babies mature under a 125w cfl while I finish out this harvest and my next grow will be focused around these 2 plants. But that's a future journal.

My phone camera will never focus on what I really want it to but oh well. There are a few small white hairs at the internode that you can't see. Also worth mentioning the failure to focus on the inter node shows the great beginnings of trich formation. I believe the molasses application is doing what it is supposed to. They are still young but this is a very short flowering strain and my fingers were a bit sticky after touching the plants to take all these pictures.


Not really sure why I am even posting this picture as my camera focused on the wrong parts of the plant but trust me there are pistils showing.

It is worth noting that I believe to have only 2 different phenotypes out of all the female plants. 3 are the very sativa looking pheno and they all responded really well to the topping, ending up with what looks to be 4 main colas on the top. I really hope the buds get really fat on the tops of these babies.

This is a picture of the healthiest looking male. It was a unique looking pheno, definitely a hybrid. I plan on keeping this male alive and selectively pollinating a lower branch on our healthiest female. This plant has been taken out of the flower room and placed under a cfl as I wait to collect pollen from it.



I was a little sad to find out that my most beautiful bushy plant was a male but I am glad to use the good genetics from it along with the robust sativa females I have in flower right now. I really hope I get that green crack buzz I'm looking for out of the sativa phenos. This male plant responded phenomenally to the LST and the topping so I am really excited to see what comes from breeding these plants together if all works out well.

So I had a crazy weekend. Got to see a few really large successful grow ops and picked their brains about growing.
I learned so much and even picked up some serious fire. Stoked about all that.

Took a trip to the hydro store today to get a bloom booster. Had a real good chat with the guy there. Did a little bit of reading about MOAB. Saw these absolutely giant gorgeous buds this weekend. They had so many trichs it looked like light going through a prism. It was gorgeous sticky and fruity. That guy was using the whole heavy 16 line and endorsed it heavily. But I ended up getting some Rock Resinator. I'm really stoked about it. Gave the girls a feeding of 75% strength Lucas formula, 25% Rock Resinator, 2ml cal mag. They are loving the cal mag under these LED lights.
Last but not least, tomorrow when lights come on I will be doing some serious defoliating to expose lower bud sites.
