My First Grow..cfl veg/hps flower

Most definitely agree with you and have often wondered why wouldn't you want both spectrums as that's more or less the transition in the real world. Are you swapping bulbs to do this or just have two different ballasts/hoods?

The only issue is I don't really have the space for another tent that si larger, maybe another of the same exact size at max..my friend has also offered to do the veg in his big room and I would just flower at my place...but I really want the experience and input throughout my plants life.

I am 6 plants. Each phase. Definitely not legal for LB's. lol!

Okay LOL stick with lower watt lighting then haha because if you go to 600w and listen to me all the way your going to have some WEIGHT ;) I agree, it's your experience, keep it all with you!! Squeeze another same size tent if you can and go cfl veg and use the 250w HID for flowering. I used a staggered pattern of MH and HPS rotating the plants every few days so they got the "best of both worlds" see pic of my setup, never swapped a bulb ever, see the two HPS and two MH's? Blue is MH;

LOVELY Setup! :clap:

I only have one ballast for now...I really want to get a digital ballast for efficiency and all thee above ahha! I can swap the bulbs every other day or two for the time being until I can afford a secondary...

I will have to save up for another tent. I think they may even have like a "mother" type tent which would be perfect just for veg.

Like I said, take your time, within the next few months you should have all that you need. Switching those bulbs is a pain ( they're hot! ) and it's time consuming. Id just wait until you have a separate tent with cfl for veg then use the HID whatever way you choose. But up to you lol I spent a lot of time messing with my setup before dialing it in and lessening my work load. Use 2 hid cfl/hid whatever works the best and you feel right about doing. After experimenting I'm sure you will find the personal preference. Any questions about hydroponics? It's quite easy once learned and you may love the method.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely be acquiring as I go haha! Maybe I can throw it in the last 2-3 weeks of flower as many have stated until I can run two different lights on it...Would throwing any CFL 6500k bulbs on it help too maybe until I can throw in an HID mh with a HPS?

As for hydroponics I know nothing, I also hear the taste isn't as good? I have smoked both...but never experienced a grow.

What about aeroponics I hear great things about it as well?

Well Aeroponics is basically the same thing except you use misters to feed suspended roots instead of saturating and it's way more technical for new guys. DWC is a big seller for new-to-hydro guys, look into it. As far as taste is concerned I would not worry as I've only heard that claim in regards to soil/organic growing vs anything and your already in coco right? Hydro is more neat and clean and more technical and the yields and growth weight are altered a good amount too. As for the addition of cfl's(6500k) into your flowering phase, I will have to get back to you with the what the benefits are, couldn't hurt to try though right? But really it's all about adding UVB rays and I know jack shit about cfl lighting so let me read up and tell you soon.

Deep Water Culture, heard good things. Let me research up on that a bit.

From what I've been able to find, it's basically more filtered as it's more aimed for direct use in the home....so if anything it probably won't be sufficient enough, but could still help by suspending down in the harder to reach spots?

Yes! Come to think of it I have seen guys hang those down in amongst plants along with HID but I think they were the 2300k ( is that right?) so as far as getting the right uvb to be beneficial I don't know yet.

correct...the 2700k cfl's are the ones I believe...and they are of the red spectrum. I'm using 6500k/5000k bulbs in the veg right now..bright daylight/blue.

Got my bucket with my air stone going! Also got my 4" inline fan. Going to hopefully get that installed, and pulling in fresh air tomorrow! Just wanted to show the pics!

If you could brighten up your grow room, your yields would be even fatter!!! Some white walls or some reflective material really does go a long wayyyy
