Need help with clones

10 days ago I cut clones, dipped them into root tech cloning gel, put them into plugs that I soaked in tap water, sprayed the clones with tap water along with the dome and let them sit with the holes of the dome closed until day 5 when I opened 1 hole. I came back on day 9 and the dome was dry and same with the plugs. The clones are as green as they were when I first clipped them they almost look the same maybe some leaf growth but it's hard to tell. I didn't know what to do so re-misted the dome, closed the hole that was open and left it. It's under 500w hps. No roots and the plugs are dried am I screwed or what?

As GreenGhost said, get a milder light for your clones. Also rehydrate the plugs. I don't have a guess as to whether the clones can still root or not, but I'd give it a try. Nothing to lose.

Not that my way is the best, but I monitor my clones every day for moisture loss and let them get a bit of fresh air.

Did you cut your clone stem at an angle to expose more of the cut for roots to sprout?

Some people (me included) lightly scrape about a half inch of the low stem to help roots grow there as well. If you do that, do it just before you apply rooting gel.

Pick up a Metal Hylide bulb - usually considered a better light spec for vegging.... I use a dimmable digital ballast that goes from 110% to 100% to 75% to 50% You could then use 500 watt blubs dimmed to 225...

only thing i can add is soak em in an aloe mixed with water. aloe encourages rooting.

Certain MH bulbs are perfect if you want to do several hundred at a time.

I find cool white four foot tubes 32-34 watts does the job consistently. I use a dual fixture.

what about ur temp? VERY important when it comes to cloning.the lower the temps the slower the cell growth.22-26°C would be great

Put the clone, cutting and plug, into a small solo or Styrofoam (my preference) cup with no drainage holes. Keep at least 1/2 inch of water standing in the dome at all times. As long as you keep the cover closed that should fix your humidity problem (drying out). Leaf growth, if any, will likely appear first at the crown or near the top. The light yellow-green centers of new buds is the tip-off to green growth inside the dome. I mist them 2-4 times a day, whenever I'm in that vicinity.

A heating pad is recommended for cloning and sprouting seeds. It often takes longer than indicated to see roots. I clone directly into fox farm happy frog dirt with a cloning powder. The cut or angle or anything else, including not using rooting hormone, is not going to make or break the rooting. I rest very tiny pots on more damp dirt. The damp dirt provides a water reservoir and it keeps it damp. I spray leaves and the dirt at the same time under a dome. Just keep spraying them. Could take a couple weeks. Don't try to check for roots, just wait. They keep living until they root, or wilt, tamp off, and die. I get so close to 100% success. I use one-gallon water jugs cut off except the back so it makes a hinge. I use MMJ 1/8th weed cylinders made of plastic as pots, with 1/16 holes made with a drill for drainage. It's conserve space and recycle. 1" wide 3" tall and sitting on damp dirt in a gallon jug with dirt on the bottom on a heating pad under a 250 HPS with rooted clones and seed-plants alongside. Don't over think it. Pretend you don't care and will replace them...they will root.

These are mini starting pots, see the "Chernobyl"? Sprouted two, Clones in water jugs are home made, Clone-only "Urkle" SFVOG clone-only X ChemdagIV Male, from which OG's originate. And many others. I have marijuana freedom for the first time in 22 years. They all rooted

Today's day 14, I can see roots on about 5 or so out of the 20. I re soaked the plugs and misted the dome. Was that the right thing to do?
