Neem oil during flowering

I had an outdoor medicine man plant that had spider mites. What I did was to take a 2” paint brush and brush the underside of the leaves on 3 branches. The next day do another 3 and so on. I didn’t get rid of them, but it slowed them down enough to get my plant to finish flowering.

How long can you use neem oil into flowering? does it have any effect when it is sprayed onto the forming buds? obviously I wouldnt use it the last week at least but can you use it until then?
Can be used up to day of harvest. Try to keep directly off buds if a little gets on buds it will not harm them. Speaking from many years of experience with neem oil and our organic nursery.

You really should kill them mites. Their bad. I couldn’t think about toking a bud with mites on it.

How would you suggest controlling spider mites during flowering if neem cannot be applied? i figured they would have poor effects on the buds but i was wondering if anyone had tried it. i just dont want to ruin them or lose them to mites if they come back during flowering
go buy a product called PureCrop One, it works fantastically up until the last day of flower, no residual taste or oils, i have used it successfully to knock out spider mites, PM on multiple plants, and to knock back a root aphid infestation twice during the same flowering cycle, and all three times this stuff absolutely saved my crop/ass. I dont endorse the company in any way but that product absolutely works.

i respectfully disagree with your advice, neem oil is nasty shit and will absolutely spoil the taste and smell of buds it is sprayed on. I’m not a commercial grower like you, so much respect, but neem oil is for veg only!

When they say safe to use up to day of harvest they're talking about crops that are washed prior to being eaten. PureCrop One has soybean oil, corn oil, glycerin, Guar Gum, soap, and vanillin. I don't see how it wouldn't leave some residue or taste. I wouldn't spray that on buds. I also agree regarding neem. I wouldn't spray that on buds either.

totally understand and agree for the most part, however, occasionally we have to take uncomfortable measures to save a crop...if you so get spider mites 5 weeks into flower tou can either kill your plant or find a product that causes the least risk and harm to those who will consume. I’ve used Purecrop One on the day before harvest, on strains Ive grown multiple times and noticed zero difference in taste, smell, effect, etc.I always spray my plants with RO water before harvesting however, a version of budwashing, maybe thats why. Btw you cant wash the taste of neem out of anything

Reviving this old post. Can you spray neem oil on fan leafs, or use a brush to apply it? This way you won't affect the bud areas, right?

Listen to me everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
All you need is a mothafucking vacuum!
I had a fucking disgusting infestation ,fucking small bits of webbing everytime I tried to kill them, they layed webbing to protect themselves, spidermites & damn near every other plant consuming bug pisses me off!!!...after I tried all the natural chemicals, my impatient ass decided to just fuck around and wing some shit... I was watching my babies die in front of me!!
So this is what I did

Step1) buy a $80 vacuum at walmart (price dont matter just get some shit that has a hose on it)

Step2) take your plant to the bathtub

Step3)spray your babies down with cold water (with removable shower spray head ) dont be gentle your kids can handle it put that shit on blast!! Warning tip the plant over so you dont let that shower water in the soil medium!

Step4) bust the vacuum out and suck each individual stem and branch multiple times! AGAIN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GENTLE YOUR BABIES CAN HANDLE IT!

Step5) vacuum the shit out of your pot container, suck out 1/2 of the soil medium the fuck out of there!! Spidermites and bugs go deep in the soil!!!

Step6) throw more dirt in that pot reamend your soil ! And that's it!!

Oh and make sure you clean your MOTHAFUKIN tent out before you put your babies back in there! Them bugs be hiding everywhere like your equipment and everything!! Fucking bastatds

I did all this and on GOD I haven't had spidermites since!!!!!!!!

Diatomaceous Earth! It has worked really well for me in getting rid of all my pests! I'm not sure if you are able to use it during flowering though.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is great, can be applied as a topping on soil, it will act like tiny microscopic razor blades on bugs and will stop them from hatching or laying their eggs in over watered plants (fungus gnats), I've also read that DE can be safely applied to leaves by sprinkling directly on leaves during veg stage. It is very effective, but there is one problem, it is not safe to breathe into your lungs. They say it can be consumed orally by humans, but inhaling it is much like inhaling fiber glass. It is powdery and very soft to the touch, but on a microscopic level it very abrassavive and mostly made of silica. While it is very good for the plant and effective at killing bugs, you don't want it on, or in your buds because it will harm your lungs if smoked.

I've used it as a topping in pots, worked it into the soil, and have sprinkled it on leaves during veg stage. Sprinkling is effective, but then you have to try to remove it before the plants start to flower, so you have to be carefull how you choose to apply it. While it is completely safe and considered food grade (you can even eat it), you don't want to get it into your lungs. Once you sprinkle it around in your garden, the fans spread the fine dust everywhere and it is difficult to get rid of it. So, my experience with this DE has shown me to use it carefully as a soil additive (silica) and as a topping to deal with bugs. The silica makes the plant stronger. But you really don't want to smoke buds that contain DE. It does work remarkably well to eliminate fungus gnats as a soil topping when used carefully, but it must be dry to be effective, ineffective on bugs when wet. If I use it again, I think I'd pass on sprinkling it all over the plant, even during veg, it's nearly impossible to clean it up after because the fans keep spreading the fine dust all over the plants and you're bound to end up smoking it, not a good idea.

That's my take on DE, it's available on Amazon.

No. No. No.

Never use neem oil in flower. It will ruin buds. I did one time and ended up throwing the plant away. Neem taste aweful when it's burnt.

Get some captian Jack's spinosad. Safe to use up til late flower. It's made from a bacteria harmless to humans. I use it on cannabis as well as my vegetables.

Man idk to be honest with ya I never used neem in flower until recently and idk if I would call it using it fully. I just spray the soil on the top to ensure them little guys die. I use it in veg frequently but this is my first time trying it in flower. I'll only be doing it this once if it eradicated them fully but the only plant done that way just got threw into flower today but has some fully flowering plants beside it. Hopefully the smell and taste don't float on over to my buds that are about halfway done. Lol to late now but if it doesn't have any neg effects I'll try to remember to post on this forum and let you guys know. I was always told spray Neem on the leafs and couldn't figure out why I couldn't even fully kill them fuckers. For those in veg looking for a answer spray your soil then wait a day or 2 and do it again. When I first sprayed they was all in my soil now nothing is moving so it seems to work much better without the extra leaf burning. Also I sprayed the soil during lights on. Nothing but positive impact but I also didn't make the solution super strong just a splash in a bottle

I'm in middle of week 5 flower. Day 31. I have ladybugs in the tent but there are still spider mites. Admittedly its not getting worse- so I guess they are doing something. Fungus gnats are getting out of controll. I have capt Jack's neem and was going to spray just the soil. But don't want to harm the ladybugs. So now I'm thinking I may topdress with DE. All opinions are welcomed.

5 weeks in I wouldn't go with Neem unless maybe you could cover all the buds with a clear trash bag for a short sec and spray some only on the dirt where they are trying to breed. I'd be super careful with that though. Once buds are starting to grow like after week 2 I'd say I wouldn't spray any Neem anywhere near your buds but maybe 3 % hydrogen peroxide and water will work for you as a contact spray on the top of your soil even then you better bexl extra Careful not to allow any fumes from the peroxide mix to get on your buds. Not sure but peroxide could potentially leave a residue that I'm sure is bad for your lungs. That's just a guess though, not only that but it will also kill you good bacteria as well as bad as well as mites on the surface atleast

Also I had lady bugs too and sprayed Neem on the soil. The lady bugs I had pretty much stayed on the leaves and the mites where going up and down the stalk to get to the leaves

That de may be your best option or I think there may be a certain type of lime stone that works as well. I think atleast I'd be worried about the ph with that stuff tho

I would also be super careful with the Damascus Earth. Not forsure but I think that stuff may have some very light parts to it that cod blow around in your tent and get on your buds as well. Almost like ashes fly when you smoke and get to close to a window in a car. Just something to keep in mind
