Definitely with you on the herring. I can appreciate the fact it's cleaned and prepared on the spot, but yeah... not for me. It's not as sturdy and chewy as it may seem, more like a salty sushi without the rice, or so people say.

That smoked mackerel though... such an underappreciated fish. Some people associate it with canned fish (never had or seen other than smoked), others (Norwegians) with dead nazis. What you see is just the original package . Only 5 bucks. And not some liquid smoke sprayed dripping wet version, proper smoked. Together with wild salmon and herring some of the healthiest fish food in the world.

Looks like chicken, tastes like smoked salmon.

My son and his family have been with us for almost a week now, my son and grandson have some food allergies well last night I made my made from scratch tacos and the daughter in law was absolutely drooling just smelling food with actual flavor. I did my usual fry on the shell with a little butter garlic on the hot shell and her eyes were rolling back in her head with each bite.

It’s Polish night!



Polish is hard but € and KG I understand (it’s literally 40-60% cheaper than dutch supermarkets presliced and packaged, difference with local organic-whatever butcher is even more. And this is some high quality stuff ). So I tried dutch, english, AI, and then did something radical… hand signalling.

Look at the packaging…





It’s mostly smoked ham and roasted pork. At my fifth pick the lady butcher complimented me on my choice affirming it’s a good one. Ok, figured I let her pick the 6th. The salami is crazy good, and it all tastes like… wellness.
