Actually this can depend greatly on the led fixture you go with. I personally went with ChilLed Growcrafts because of this very thing. I wanted to be able to order a replacement part. ChilLed led strip runs like 80 bucks. The driver is 300. So if one of my diodes goes out or needs replaced I can order a part and go on with my life. Also most of the quality led fixtures run the leds way under power load to increase their life time. But a good LED light should last 100,000 hours. Most say 50k hours which is 6 years if you run them 24/7. so 12 years for 12/12. 9 year average. I spent 900 bucks per light. So 100 per year per light. I was spending 480 in bulbs a year with Eye Super HPS bulbs. and that was if NONE of them went bad early. Nvm the fact that i went from running a couple of 8 inch hydrofarm inline fans for exhaust and 2 6 inch in-lines for intake down to just 2 6 inch ac infinity's with passive intake. Long term, LED's are cheaper. ChilLed's website even has a Rate of Return calculator that you can use to see how much they save you over time.
I ran a couple of 1ks in a vertical set up for years. Grow journal about it over in the vertical sub somewhere. I used to also just grow from like oct-mar/april just so I could use the heat from the lights to warm the basement of my house. I wouldnt really grow during the summer. But now with LED's being worth getting I'm growing year around.
The Science did advance. In 2019 when samsung dropped the LM3030 LED lineup then followed up the following year with a Horticulture version of this chip that changed the LED market. See you didnt need these huge metal boxes like the Black Dogs with fans and everything else to make a grow light. Quantum panels hit the market followed by a chinese version called the spider-farmer. HLG started making a board. Then Gavita dropped their Bar fixture and Leds are where they are at now. The price is getting better as well.
On top of that, AC Infinity came out hard with their inline fans and sensor controller. With a fan controller that can be set up to just change air out or help control temp and humidity all from a sensor is outstanding.
Pulse One came out with a sensor to monitor heat, humidiy, DLI, VPD and the Pro comes with CO2 monitoring additionally. This allows your to really dial in your grow environment.
Finally, Newa came out with a 4 way power stirp that can control lights, humidifer, dehumidifer fans ect through your phone.
Please please dont take them as me telling you to change anything or do something different. Just info for you to mull on.
