New flushing study

So for conversation's sake, I have a question. This study suggest almost no difference in flushing or not not flushing before harvest, also it is argued that flushing is starving the plants when they need the nutes the most. But it seems many that argue against flushing DO suggest reducing the amount of nutrients closer towards harvest. Why? If the nutes are already in the plant, and this is the most critical time of the plants life, why cut back nutes befor harvest?
I like your sock puppet.

What do you guys think about bottled nutes that are synthetic tho? I feel like synthetic stuff should be probably washed out from the plant before harvest if they are used? Am I retarded for flushing while using bottled nutes

From what I have found from numerous outdoor grows is as the plant finishes it drinks less, and requires less nutes due to drinking less.

But I don't cancel out nutes and I don't flush.

With all due respect if you want to consider it retarded I won't disagree.

If you water to runoff each time you water you won't need to flush at all.

I use Fox farms trio exclusively.

Flushing is certainly a hottly debated subject, I've picked testers from the plants approaching maturity and I freely admit I've never thought it tasted bitter, soapy, or had a nippy throat but fk idk I'm still compelled to flush it out for 2/3 days at the end.

I can't get that fucking rank taste/feel of poorly grown weed out my mind which I attributed to flushing ( fkn bro science) so as an asurance/peace of mind after all my time, effort and money I mature them to amber trichs then give them 2/3 days of water before harvest.

I don't at any point starve them or feed ridiculously low ec I always meet the plants requirements up to the point it would be chopped bar that final 2/3 days.

It's one of they things I wouldn't be prepared to risk until I tried someone else's, then again it's so minor it's hardly worth cutting out.

I've read to too many times that it makes no difference from people I trust so I don't doubt it... its more i just can't help it is the truth... habit!

Maybe one day when a big boy lol

I came across this study about flushing and found it to be very informative and interesting so I thought I would share it for all those who are not flushing at the moment.

According to this trial I can save my money on nutes for the last 14 days of flower without any loss of final weight and taste. Only real difference is the color of the wax if you’re making extracts. The non flushing extracts will be lighter colored. So For all the non-flushers out there you should definitely reconsider your position on flushing unless your commercially making extracts or you just like light colored extracts.
Near impossible to guess the last 14 days of flower, when growing from seed strains you have not run before.
So you make the call and start the flush, but if its not ready after 14 days and needs another week then how much bud weight did u lose because you starved the plant for 3 weeks?

Still noob enough to ask random questions - old enough not to care what strangers think of me...so fire away! :bigjoint:
Actually, trying to get my head around the "why" of flushing.

I get the concept of removing salts / synthetics, but:
A. Do the plants store unprocessed nutes in the buds?
B. Do they off-gas / transpire nutes out of their system?

C. I grow soil / top-dress / dry amendments / tap water.
--Knowing that, wouldn't every watering after the final top-dress/feed be considered flushing (ineffectively) since nutes aren't being replenished?

Who remembers the guy that flushed with hot water?
that was @RM3 ....there is merit to his process as the boiling water kills the plant instantly, and it does change the taste profile of the finished product.

I tried it once and didn't like the results, but it most certainly does alter the whole drying/curing process

“New research suggests that flushing cannabis with water pre-harvest may negatively impact cannabis taste and quality of smoke.”

The subheader on the article. But keep flushing. Keep flushing b
