New germinating method, scarification.

Ive been rubbing each seed on the glass of the cup I soak them in before potting up, gave me quicker germination. Did I scarify them and is this a quick way without sandpaper or matchbox?

Seems like the layer we run through is so thin even a rub on glass penetrates it.

Top of the glass or bottom of the glass? If you use a clay coffee mug on the bottom it will be good and rough to scruff em up. Yes this would be similar to sandpaper. But is glass gritty enough?

Did a genie pop out from either the glass or the seed?

But seriously. Drop in water for 18hrs and put in medium.

Sprouts in 2 - 3 days. No need for additional steps to speed it up by 2 hrs.

Is it worth damaging the seed as the germination process only takes me 12-24 hours paper towel in sealed jiffy bag on top of something warm like a tv set top box.

Is it possible to just put the seed in some soil and apply water?

Flat smooth glass no grit, they also sink a lot quicker after a rub.

Regardless of how fast you pop the seed. You still have 3 months minimum to grow it.

Yes, this wasn't a thread on that though just how easy it seems to scarify a seed on flat glass.

I can germinate any way 100%, how I germinate is personal preference I never recommend inexperienced growers do anything but put the seed straight to soil.

I've been lightly scraping them with a knife, just so a little dust comes off. Some of my older seeds would refuse to pop. After a week I dug one up and scraped it, put it back in the soil. It popped. So I did the rest of them, and it worked.
I kind of got into the habit of doing it.
It does seem to make things a day or two faster, which is good for those of us with ADD, or who are impatient. No digging to see if it's popped yet.

I shave my beard, then wait a day for the stubble to come in thick, rub seed on my face then into a solo cup of coco.
